NFS Unbound uses integrated GPU instead of NVIDIA on AMD laptops
Hello everyone,
I want to report a serious issue with Need for Speed Unbound on laptop systems with hybrid graphics.
My setup:
- Laptop with AMD CPU (integrated Radeon graphics)
- NVIDIA dedicated GPU
- Windows 10/11
- External monitor (issue also happens on laptop screen only)
Problem:
- NFS Unbound always starts using the integrated AMD GPU instead of the NVIDIA GPU.
- This happens even when:
- NVIDIA GPU is forced in NVIDIA Control Panel
- High Performance GPU is selected in Windows Graphics Settings
- NVIDIA GPU is selected inside the game settings
- Because of this, the game always launches in windowed/borderless mode instead of true fullscreen.
Important test result:
- When I disable the integrated AMD GPU in Device Manager:
- The game correctly uses the NVIDIA GPU
- The game launches in true fullscreen
- BUT performance becomes extremely bad (heavy stuttering even in the main menu)
This clearly shows:
- NVIDIA GPU works
- Fullscreen works
- The issue is related to how NFS Unbound handles hybrid AMD iGPU + NVIDIA dGPU systems
Additional info:
- Other games (for example PUBG) use the NVIDIA GPU correctly and run in fullscreen without issues
- There are no .ini files or launch options that fix this
- Reinstalling drivers / the game does NOT solve the problem
Conclusion:
This looks like a game-side GPU detection / rendering bug specific to laptop hybrid graphics systems, not a user configuration issue.
If anyone else with a laptop has the same problem, please reply so this can get more visibility.
