Need for Speed: Unbound PC - PS5 DualSense controller not working
Despite apparently fully supporting and recommending a controller for game play. The game will not work with a DualSense5 controller. Have used 2 different emulators, tried adding to Steam and using Big Picture.
Bluetooth or cable. Buttons are completely screwed and not playable at all.
You cant even change the button mappings in game...

I'm having the same issue but with a PS4 controller instead I bought the game through the EA app and thought I was alone when I launched it and found out it wouldn't recognize my controller at all with or without DS4. I contacted support and after a few failed attempts at helping they suggested I make a post here. I just asked for a refund since I thought the steam version would at least let me use a controller.
Did you guys get the controllers to work? i have a ps5 dualsense and the keybinds are also all wacked out. r2 is nos the camera is looking back at all times, they said they would have full controller support and wheel support what happened??? EA FIX THIS ISSUE NOW!
Here I was thinking of buying the game but guess I’ll wait if controller support is a car crash (sorry for that pun haha) nfs heat was the same so can’t say I’m shocked.
no, did not work at all. tried to plug it in, reboot machine and restarted game. the left stick worked, but the rest was still not working. Was not able to drive.
the same for me, I've been trying all day to make this work, there is no way, DualsenseX, DS4 Windows, change the configuration within Steam to the PS4 controller and add the game to the Steam library, nothing works, this is nonsense.
Refund also refused for me, they say that "you have to wait until December 2 for the game to be published worldwide"
PS: I have tried original PS4, PS5 and XBOX controllers.
Me who bought it 2026, still facing same issue with ps5 dual sense controller.

Igu, I just figured it out after having bought the game well over two years ago bro.
On your desktop right-click BOTH Steam and EA and run them as administators. You want to do this as it will allow you to have EA actively running in the background after you open it from the steam app. If you dont run both of them as administrators, it'll bug out. It'll say EA is running (through steam) and then close itself while the actual EA is still in fact running.Note: you'll also want to disable EA from automatically opening on startup if you havent already.
I have the EA Desktop version and I am using a PS5 controller via USB. What you can do is add "C: \Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\EADesktop.exe" to your steam library as a non-steam game.
After you do that, make sure you close the EA App you may have running. Now launch your newly added EADesktop through steam.
Note: I would probably restart your pc as well, esp after changing your controller settings to what they said above.
After you restart, open steam, open EA THROUGH steam, make sure the EAdestop says running, and then launch NFS Unbound from within the EA
At this point I was able to have normal controls and camera. Everything was bounded correctly and controller worked on Both Unbound and Payback
