I have the same problem, I run the game via Steam, EA App shows up and that's it. It doesn't work... I'm disappointed because I wanted to get this title but I will have to return it.
I had the same issue today. I tried out a few changes. But in the end what worked for me was to remove (or in my case simply zip and rename) the folder "qmlcache" in the folder %localappdata%\Link2EA\cache. Afterwards i was able to start the game from steam.
In addition to that I added before hand manually the EADesktop.exe and the game .exe (like "<steamlibrary>\common\Excalibur\NeedForSpeedUnbound.exe") in the windows firewall as exception (both were not explicitly in my list beforehand)
Man, you are a lifesaver! thanks a lot. only this method worked for me.
I have the same problem, I buy and install then run the game via Steam, EA App shows up and that's it. It doesn't work after that.
So what should i do for fix that. please EA team, help me for this issue, also you guys if has some issue and can fix it.
You have to be logged in the EA app. Open the EA app and see if you need to log in again. I was disconnected and couldn't launch the game, log in the app again and now it's starting without any problem
cpu: ryzen 5
gpu: rtx 3060 ti 8gb
ram: 16 gb
disk space available: 400gb
operating system: windows 10 pro
tried login ea and start the game - not helping
tried app recovery to clear cache - not helping
tried running game on administrator - not helping
tried disable and re-enable the game through firewall - not helping
tried uninstalling and re-installing the game - worked
but now not working again. i'm tired to wait for another few hours to uninstall and re-install just to play. Hello EA Games, any other method can you help with?
update:
tried running from ea app - not working
tried running from steam - not working
tried running from the steam library folder itself - not working
tried running from nvidia app - worked
let's see what's gonna happen tomorrow.
update:
today is the next day. why am i not surpirsed, the app refused to start from nvidia app
but i came acorss this ea site: https://help.ea.com/en-gb/help/ea/ea-app/close-background-apps/
all the methods it suggest just explain how weak the app is and many of them implies you need a superb skill to browse through the task manager and identify each name for each program so you can shut them down
but the last point, just scroll to the bottom of the page and read the "Origin" point. It only mention slightly about cross-apps may cause the game to not run properly so i try it.
- i exited nvidia, steam, ea app and open ea app only and start nfs from there. - worked
a new day, a new start, tried all the working and not working methods, they are all not working today (except reinstall the game). it's really frustrating especially EA actually marked this as solved issue which clearly all the bros here (and even on youtube) are complaining the smae issue
- @chongdouglas I've had the exact same problem! I downloaded the game via Steam for the first time a day ago and was able to launch it after download.
The next day, I try to launch the game, and get the loop of the EA App "Preparing Game" window. It then flashes the main EA App window for a brief moment, before the Stop button in Steam becomes Play again.
Tried doing everything in this thread. The thing that ended up working was to launch the .exe directly from the Excalibur folder.
Will try your solution as well. Thanks so much for posting it in such detail! - @danielmaxsteel this worked for me, but still why tf would anyone have to fix a game for it to properly work... but we all know EA.
