I never had these issues before NHL 22 -- on the new engine. For some reason it worked okay for the first few months of 22. So far not so good for 23.
If it were simply online -- with my 20 ping feeling like 200, despite hardwired GB internet -- I might be less worried than it being offline too. Because logic says hardware, but I have tried 3 different Xboxs, with each factory reset a plethora of times; 5 HDMI cables; 2 gaming monitors (both worked and work fine otherwise); a new modem; a handful of controllers of different brands and wired in/wireless. It seems an impossibility that Offline Free Skate could have input delay given this -- or not even just delay, but like it simply does not register. Hence me moving my stick causing my player to stop instead of turn.
The only thing I can fathom is NHL22 and 23 is causing me some sort of Xbox bug. I remember reading Apex had a bug this summer on Xbox Series X/S with input lag, where it actually affected other games on the Xbox. Hence a brand new Xbox playing NHL properly for only the first night back in July. Maybe it's a problem with Quick Resume -- I always close my app, but if you notice, the main menu will still show you the most recent game mode, so there's something still there in short term memory. But I'm convinced it's software.
- 3 years ago@DeliveryForKiki Have you tried with fresh Xbox with completely new account? I might have to try that next.

@HYDEEZY I don't think I initially started with a new account on a new Xbox. But I have factory reset and THEN started with a new account. Same deal.
I've spent an obscene amount of time testing everything, and one thing that has stuck with me is the game when deleting and re-downloading (along with deleting all saved data, not just the game file).
I play a lot of MLB: The Show (no issues), and when I delete and re-download that, it takes me back to the initial start-up screen where I have to do all the settings. Meanwhile, the VERY first time you load up NHL22/23, as anyone knows, there's an initial menu scroll, talking about X-Factors and whatnot, then the settings menu. Now stick with me: when I delete the game and all data and re-download it (I tested this with NHL23 this afternoon too).......it takes you back to the main menu, shows what mode you "Last Played," and your settings remain what they were. Despite totally deleting all game data.
As I said, I'm convinced it's a game bug -- something with Quick Resume, cloud data, short term memory on the Xbox -- and something like this, where you can't actually reboot the game from scratch, furthers my point. Especially in light of a brand new Xbox in July working fine with my NHL game for only the first time.

Yeah it has nothing to do with your hardware or connection. It has been in the game for years and EA has never acknowledged it, don't be surprised if this goes without response as well.
- 3 years ago@bugabugabooboo Well, I dropped a lot of information and possible ideas, and it's appreciated that it's met with crickets.
Maybe I should try hard resetting my Xbox. 😂- 3 years ago
Anyone want to take bets on when I'll even get a reply?

That's pretty strange, I've got the same feeling and I tried many thing as you since NHL 22 on my PS5, I play NHL since NHL 13 and nothing like that before the new engine... I'm not able to understand the issue... but for sure it's come from the game... I test everything and no difference... Like we don't need to be an expert to understand there's something wrong...especially when you see all the people in that feed reporting the same issue...
And look at my video to see what king of AI issu I experimented with the game... Can someone tell me what are Teemu Selanne doing?? -_-

Bad netcode, bad choice of protocol, inappropriate buffer size, all of these things factor in why it is so bad. A guy on reddit could barely get 8 wins a week in Champs. He went to Montreal on business trip and went 18-2. It is not rocket science. The top 40 people in HUT champs last week and where they play from:
Quebec Finland Ottawa Quebec Quebec Houston Vancouver Quebec Quebec Ottawa Windsor
Sweden Finland Quebec Toronto Rochester Toronto Toronto Edmonton Czech Republic
Toronto Austria Vancouver Toronto Finland Quebec Quebec Quebec Toronto Quebec
Brampton (Ontario) Toronto, New Jersey.
Then Toronto Quebec Ottawa.
Again, it is not rocket science. Where are the Calgary, Winnipeg, Maritime people? Only one Edmonton person? Where are the 55 million from the NE United States? You telling me that the majority of the best people in this game all happen to live in close vicinity of servers (compared to majority of population) and it is the same region where people complain that there is a delay when they play them?
Also, why doesn't this occur in VS? I play VS which is peer to peer and there is lag occasionally, freeze or speed up, but not the same, not a delay. It is because of the dedicated servers, net code, choice of protocol and buffer size. It has been well documented.
Whole thing is a joke. Been going on for 3 years like this, horrible company makes crappy game, it is what happens when one company has monopoly of game type and since NHL so niche it is not going to change. Hell, FIFA is huge makes tons more money than NHL and they didn't change that lol

If I were EA I wouldn't improve anything either😄 as you write, they are the only ones who produce these games. They quit NBA Live because they don't stand a chance against 2K
