I don't mean to come off rude nor do I know who's in charge of the Instagram or Twitter but are these people oblivious to the current state of the game? I see these NHL 23 world championship highlights on the offical NHL page and it's some crappy broken goal and the comments are just clowning the game. Why would you post the goals that show how broken the game is and not the ones that slightly resemble hockey? Posting these clips actually hurt the community and draw negative attention to the game. Maybe someone should send them the memo that this years game was possibly the worst NHL of all time and not to post broken clips. Same goes for the dumb plays of the month it only hurts the games rep more. It's like taking a final exam and failing it and posting it on your Instagram. It's embarrassing.

@PernellKarl027 Besides the joy that was NHL 15 next-gen (sarcasm). I think they know NHL 23 didn't meet even their normal yearly update, but that is probably because cross-play is something very tricky and needed worked into their game which is a huge make or break when it comes to games even working. For what they did add in for cross-play they did a decent job and actually was more advanced than even their pride n joys in FIFA and Madden.

@KidShowtime1867It was 1 or 2 iterations ago someone won the entire esports event in Madden using a kicker as their QB and they ran the ball EVERY SINGLE TIME. Since Madden does their thing with like a salary cap he used the cheapest option at QB so he could build one of the best defenses and o-lines out there.

If you wanna make this game NOT like the NHL you're gonna have to cater to people who don't know who NHL players are.. now, I I'm a fan of the NHL OR not a fan what I want to see is WHY I should play this game.. create your own club and build up your arena while you play 3 vs 3 in arcade hockey or 4v4/ 6 vs 6 with friends in simulation hockey!! Take your talents to HUT where you can create a team with stars from.the NHL or Historic players from around the league.If I was never a fan of hockey and I heard that I would say to my friends "hey, what do you guys think about this game. Would you guys wanna all get it and team up?" This would especially be true if the game was free for a month. Make it free halfway through the game's cycle so youre not losing much money. A bunch of friends get in and try it out.. maybe you get a bunch of people who return the next year..

@Nasher355You should watch the stream of the Championship that just took place. See what gets told to the people complaining about the goals/moves. What you hate is what many of them love. It's just people rather complain more than praise. HUT is never meant to be even close to a sim experience. It's supposed to the farthest thing from sim with the increase to stats over the season. Online play will never have a complete simulation feeling to it. Things are probably more geared towards balance among the 6s community than say having 5 AI out there. You're never gonna get that "real" simulation feeling when it comes to online play.
GWC is hosted by the actual NHL and hell even good ole Gary Bettman made an appearance praising things and how they have expanded with other things for their audience. I'm sure the competitive community is hoping the NHL invests more into growing the competitive scene.

I mostly agree with everything you said here, by far, that is not the best representation of the sport, of the game…
The part where I bolded it’s where I disagree. I think that with the right tweaks (lots of them) NHL23 is on top of all NHL games from the past. That’s my humble opinion.

BTW, I’m strictly talking about OFFLINE. I’ll take your words for online as I don’t play it 😉

Does Madden not suffer the same fate in their online championships? People constantly going for it on 4th down, using the same exploited coverage mechanics over and over, abusing play-action on every single play?
When you get the best of the best playing against each other, the META is all that matters. They're not concerned with trying to replicate real-world hockey tactics in order to win/have fun.
They're literally trying to abuse everything they can with a win-at-all-costs mentality and there's absolutely nothing that can stop them, outside of gentlemen's agreements not to abuse certain mechanics, which will never happen.

As far as making the game free, I'd like to offer my 2 cents. I was given the game for free by my brother because he knew I wasn't going to buy it. I bought all up to 21. It took exactly 10 days for us to remove it. If you haven't had the joy of looking at their reviews on Xbox and ps store, have a read. 1.4 out 5. The devs take a beating here because management makes terrible decisions regarding this game. One customer does not equal one customer. They are finding this out now with the lack of online presence. Until management changes and there is a direct link from the core players to the devs, this game will continue to regress.

If you don't work for EA, you must be HR. The blame the customer/player approach gets old when everyone knows the game is broken.
