I think something the NHL series should adopt from their UFC brethren is the concept of having 'Seasons' and ranked fights that have certain weight classes you need to fight in during periods of the day.For example, in ranked UFC fights, they rotate through weight classes available to fight. Early in the day, you may have to fight ranked rights with Heavyweights/Light Heavyweights, then later in the day it's Bantamweight (W) or Straweights (W). This forces users in to using different fighters rather than whoever is OP (a La McGregor, Khabib, etc)On the NHL side of things, rotating through the available leagues in the game to use in OVP would VASTLY increase the use of other teams, tactics, etc. For example - popping in to play online versus while you can only use teams from the CHL would be awesome! Or only AHL teams, DEL, SM LIGA, etc. For the NHL Series, I'd like to see them adopt the Seasons concept where a 'Season' lasts 90-days or so, afterwards the CR you've obtained during that season is applied to your Overall CR, but then you begin another season at 0-0-0. This is a refreshing 'reset' that happens every now and then during the year, giving people a fresh start.

@Sega82mega OVP is quite literally the only mode I play. The reason?1. HUT is full of incredibly OP teams and I don't have time to grind that out nor am I willing to spend even a SINGLE CENT more than EA Play costs for this game.2. EASHL is cool if you can get a team of 6 but I'm a grown * married man with a job and I honestly don't have the availability to schedule playing time like that... also none of my IRL friends play this game.So, I'd be incredibly disappointed if some sort of GMC came and replaced OVP. It should come IN ADDITION to it.What I DO think OVP needs are some M'F'n dedicated servers. WHY am I (LA-based) forced to play against someone from Toronto on their terms and vice-versa? I almost NEVER have a "good" connection because I guess there just aren't that many people playing hockey games in LA... it's a trash experience.

Why isn't the mode set to Simulation?

Hardcore Sim gameplay settings in online versus would disrupt the kiddos who just want to wheel-snipe-celly. EA would be flooded with complaints from the vocal majority that the game 'sucks' and to 'revert back to normal settings' after they begin getting destroyed by a META that rewards skill versus abuse.

Theres so many reasons why you shouldn't play onlineVs, but still you do, because it offer you the best gameplay, but thats about it.

I hope some sort of GMC will come in an replace onlineVs, or a big modification of the current system.

Becuase how its now, it suffers a long painful death.

@NeonSkyline21, I agree with you that HUT is a mode where you have to spend a lot of time to put together a competitive team, and in WoC mode there is a lot of dependence on other people to get together and play 3v3 or 6v6.

I didn't play when I was GMC, and I don't even know what it is. Can you tell me what this mode was like?

Therefore, the current Online Versus mode is quite good, but there is room for improvement. In particular, we are running simplified online tournaments for NHL teams in Online Versus mode with friends for 8-10 people. And it would be nice if you could make a spectator mode so that two people play, and a third person can be present at the match, but not play for one of the sides, but watch the match and comment on what is happening on the ice, in addition to streaming on Twitch or YouTube. It would be interesting for the esports world, I think.

P.S. tell me, @NeonSkyline21, what is your ping against players from Toronto?

It's an interesting concept worthy of a test, and HUT already has challenges/tournaments that follow a similar setup with salary and OVR so its feasible to shoehorn in to other modes.

That said, I'm not sure there is longevity in forcing players to use teams they don't want to - For example, I see so many people use thr same meta team over and over because the game favours certain players, and I personally don't like teams with too many right handed shots so I might have to take a bigger hit to OVR to play.

Timed seasons in EASHL are especially frustrating for teams like mine who don't get to play much and right when we are about to break into Elite or even get Elite 1, it all resets -- with everyone then unranked, you could still go 7-0 and only get ranked Gold.

Seasonal stats would help the lesser skilled teams and might show a wider pool of players that top the boards which is a bonus though

I don't have any details on that. We have to consider that not everyone is a fan of sim. It makes sense in HUT with the higher level plays as well as the hardcore competitive playerbase. It could make it's way to other modes at some point though.
