Restoring What Was Lost
So, are you going to let us edit characters again? (Postion, look, play style.) Are you going to restore the importance of player preferences matching coach preferences? Or is it going to still be a...
“Why listen to the people who spend hours and hours playing our game when it’s so much easier to ignore them?”
-EA head developer, probably
@heavydutyrammerThey do have a say in a bunch of stuff. You know when EA brought back NFL Blitz and they removed the hits after the plays and such because the NFL made them.
“When we started working on this game we partnered very early on with the NFL and talked to them about what it is we wanted to deliver. We played the old versions of Blitz with them and we talked with them throughout the course of this entire product development cycle and, at the end of the day, the NFL felt like the late hits did not meet with their take on player health and safety, and they asked us to remove it from the game. Right now we have big action and big, over-the-top gameplay, but once the whistle blows there are no late hits.”
All I know is that when you can't get a simple answer as to why something hasn't happened after years upon years of asking it has to make you wonder why they can't just man up. I mean they don't even tell you they are looking into adding the feature.
Also the online community got part cross-play enabled and a couple more character build slots. Nothing else besides that. So don't give the whole $70-80 excuse. HUT just gets wiped for people to start all over and spend more money.
It's not harassment to point out the truth. They didn't listen to their player base becuase they don't have to.
They didn't listen to the Be a Pro people becuase they made no changes. The added something very few asked for to Franchise, and ignored dozens of people asking for things. You can snap shot yourself in Be A Pro, why can't we snap shot out players in Franchise. You can edit yourself in Be a Pro, why can't we edit in Franchise. These are questions the majority of players ask for, and they get ignored.
And if it turns out the actual NHL is preventing EA from letting us edit players looks, then the answer is yes. We'd reach out to NHL and say, "Why do you hate us?" Again, that isn't harassment, its asking a question. You really shouldn't use inflammatory words like that when trolling.
@kyl_35, there is no doubt in my mind that the decision to allow us to customize our leagues came from the pandemic year. There were a lot of requests to be able to change schedules, playoff matchups, etc, while roster sharing highlighted that even more.
To the majority of users, while a cool feature, a request that has either been forgotten about or will be used sparingly.
They introduced scouting, coaching and the trade deadline half baked, if there was ever a feature that didn’t need to be fully implemented right away it was league customization. There was no need to spend time on home/away playoff matchups, AHL details among others when the coaching, scouting, roster construction and sim engine all need massive improvements.
There are no doubt some things the NHL probably won't allow (suspensions, changing personal player characteristics, career ending injuries), but to not allow features that are already available in other modes or in previous games just makes zero sense as a justification.
100%
I mean adding this "Custom League" this is cool, but its means nothing to us "actual" hockey fans. I want to play and trade players I know and like, along with those I cultivate. 48 teams in a league means nothing to me. And I can't have 1 expansion team every couple years... So what, I have to do 4 expansion drafts all at once?
Not to mention, and this one is kind of a kicker. There are only 8 spaces on the screen. How much do I have to scroll to find league standings... or did they redo the layout?
