Strategies in NHL 23

@EA_Aljo  Yes. Started a new franchise after the update and everything. Hired a new coach from the coaching hires menu, simmed a few days to see if it would take hold. Nothing. Simmed a whole season to see if it would take hold. Nothing. Still stuck with my default coaches strategies. And no, it is not a similar temples to my default coach. I had an offensive coach and hired the most defensive coach I could find.

This is why WE are frustrated. We waited a month for a patch. We were told this was fixed. Do these fixes even get tested before they go out? It took me five minutes total to test this and find out the “fix” wasn’t working. I guess I just don’t get how they can claim something is “fixed” without it actually being fixed. 

Now we could possibly waiting another month for this be fixed on top of the fact that we already waited a month. I understand you guys are issuing bans, I just received a 24 hour myself. But how can you not understand our frustration? I mean even you have to admit this is getting ridiculous at this point.

WE waited a month for a fix. We’re told it was fixed. And yet it is clearly not. I guess WE would really all just like to know what lead the devs to believe this was fixed? Because as I said, a five minute play test showed that it was not. Look, I can get past not being able to change a coaches strategies. I understand the logic I really do. But please at least make coaches and strategies matter then.

Do you have any screenshots or a video? We just haven't been able to reproduce this yet.

Everyone on this forum is able to replicate it with their game. I am a member of a couple of other message boards besides this one and everyone on those forums are confirming it’s not working as well. I literally haven’t seen one person say it is working out of the 8 or 9 who have tested it.

I am not technologically advanced to do the whole “screen shot” thing so maybe someone else can help out on this one.

Maybe the devs should try replicating it on a retail copy of the game, because that is what most of us are using.

The role of the GM is to make sure everything is running smoothly. If the GM want's the team to try a different strategy then he would talk to the coach. The fact that when you draft a new player and want to play him, the coach will talk to you about what you should do an  you can over ride his decision speaks to the fact that EA did in fact want us to make decisions like this. I would like a concrete reason to why this was removed as I have been playing NHL games all my life. There is no reason for this feature to have been removed. What does EA have against players playing the game the way they want to?

EA is trying to create a narative in wich the removal of feature is intentional, logical and are a creative decision instead of saying that they broke the game.

Strategy is not in the game because it must conflict with something else.

I suspect that the addition of the 1-3-1 and powerplay roles is what was causing a conflict and why they removed the ability to edit strategies. 

Don’t get me wrong, I am stoked they FINALLy added a new and modern strategy, as well as the ability to dictate rolls on the power play.

But I really hope they figure out a way to make it so that we can edit strategy’s with these new tactics in the future. I also wouldn’t mind if they continue to add more modern tactics in the future 

@EA_Aljo  Then if that's not the case then revert the Strategies back to how they are in the past games. It's a simple thing to ask and most likely do. Why is there so much of a push back on EA side to do so makes no sense. Makes no sense why it was changed and no sense you it can't be fixed. 

See you say “you’re role is not the coach” meanwhile as GM I can control prices, upgrade and maintain arena, set the roster. Yet every game pretty much from PS2 on has let you control how you want the game to be played except this year. Please explain why take something away that is so VITAL to the game altogether? I have coach edit lines turned off. For example when I go to edit lines, my 4 on 4 power play line I want Barzal at center, Parise at LW. The game keeps swapping Parise to center and Barzal to LW. No matter how many times I change it whether it’s under “edit lines” in manage rosters, or doing it before you hit start game, the game STILL CHANGES THE LINES. It’s bad enough that I cannot change the strategies once and let it be, I have to do that every game. Now I need to do that and when a new game starts, hit pause before puck drop and THEN FIX MY LINES and strategies to the ways I want??? That is awful. I want my money back. This game the last 3years have been so aggravating. I’m sure people at EA have skipped over my other posts but come on. We are telling you specifically how this game is messing up and yet nothing changes besides minor tweaks to jerseys and arena presentations that should’ve already been there. Speaking of presentations where is the isles presentation? And don’t say they don’t have one. I literally sit next to the person that hits play for it FOR EVERY GAME. C’mon EA. Please stop with the nonsense
