And when I look at these clips, the way you play, is like you're playing online in an offline scenario. In real hockey, you don’t see the plays you are making, or your teammates would go crazy… Or you would get a blind side hit so bad…
When you talk about a simulation, I try to play like one. If I would buy a bus simulator, I would probably stop at every red lights and take people in at all my bus stops, not try to run people over, lol !
Like I said, try only one game as per my recommendations, and maybe you’ll have fun 🤔
BTW, you must be one heck of an online player !
So essentially you are placing more responsibility on the user to make the game challenging and realistic by altering the way you play (and spending countless hours editing rosters and sliders), while I think it is more of EA's responsibility to make a challenging and realistic game. I think you are letting EA off the hook pretty easily by asking the player to do all the work in making the game realistic. I think the user should have to use actual hockey tactics in order to win, not for the sake of using actual hockey tactics.
With that said, even if you think it is the user's responsibility to make the game realistic, NHL 23 is still kind of pathetic, as NHL 2k games from decades ago play more realistically. Look at this powerplay from 2k10:
It looks like that user is position locked and staying in position on the PK. Doesn't the way the AI move the puck around look way more realistic than the ping pong passes and out of control skating in NHL 23? Don't his AI teammates maintain their PK shape better than the AI in NHL 23? Remember, this game is 13 years older than NHL 23 and three console generations ago.

YES, we’ll kinda ! When I play a pretty good baseball simulation like THE SHOW, I try to play like the real thing of the bat. I also play player lock and remove everything from the HUD and go to the plate on the highest pitching difficulty. The game didn’t tell me to do it, I do it myself. Because I wanna feel like what it’s like to be at bat and receive a 100 MPH fastball !! Yes, I could play with OOTB difficulty and crush the AI, but why would I ? That’s not realistic to me and it’s not fun… We’ll at least not to me 😏

Yes, of course… Because I chose to. You are right, it’s not on me to do it, but the tools are there (even if they are not optimized) but I refuse to play the game OOTB even with the Simulation sliders because to me they are a joke ! And yes, I have spent countless hours to make the game play like I want it to, that’s because I’m a hockey freak ! lol ! And now all the tweaks and fixes I’ve done are there for everyone to use if they want… I even put out a version 2 of a roster with more Active DMen…. DMen that were left to dry by EA IMO…
Like I said, to me playing hockey, is soooo far off what is being played online. Yes I play by my house rules like you say, but isn’t my "house rules" more like actually being on the ice and like playing this beautiful game ??

I think whats importent, in the end, is knowing how to entertain yourself, you seem to be good at that part.
When the game gives you lemons, you make a lemonade out of it.
Great attitude. Be careful with that! 😏👏
