Heya folks, please give ~ this ~ thread a look for more info; it's an oldie but I think provides the best back and forth
@TTZ_DipsyTo sum this up easy. No, it won’t, no point in even saying wait to the reveal.
I’ll tell you why, to put it as simple as possible. Its simply not worth it, when it comes to sports titles outside of racing its not worth doing, there simply isn’t a market, or there lack of. Its why it was removed in the first place and seriously, nothing has changed at all. They’d be spending more money on resources for PC and it wont make their money back.
Its a business decision and until sports picks up on pc it’ll remain that way.
Having NHL on pc is the least requested thing or responded to thing by the community out of everything. Fact is those who buy any sports title has a console as is and therefore the game is accessible to them. This also eliminates unfair cross platform advantages that PC would obviously get and since the market is small it would have to have cross platform to survive otherwise you’d barely get any online games, and if you did i dare say you’d get a server thats lagging and queue times would be insane.
So no, its not.
It is what it is, once people accept this the sooner the better, its always the same small people who keep asking every year. Its the definition of insane, trying the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

you do know every NHL goes on sale within two weeks like 60% right? So they are pretty much as you say losing money there…
it has nothing to do with anything not being popular on PC… it’s the fact that the PC would be able to port in pictures and take apart what EA created and PC would be able to make it better which console would complain why can’t they have that…
the last NHL PC game is still very popular and is still being modded with todays rosters so I don’t see where you think it wouldn’t be a seller????
now let’s talk about that lag… I’m assuming you’re saying PC would bring lag or more lag? This shows me that you’ve never owned a gaming PC cause it would actually be better on PC as we’d have the option to adjust to the issues by changing settings… also there’s a fair amount of lag already on your high and mighty console each year which has yet to be fixed…
lastly the HUGE reason NHL won’t come to PC is cause as of right now EA and as many of us see are using a copy n paste method in which if it were on PC we’d just be able to port in new rosters and photos for the next season instead of buying a complete new game for no apparent reason to have updated rosters…

Your logic is incredibly flawed. I'm not even sure how you came to those conclusions.
It's a very simple explanation: The number of potential PC sales don't justify the existence of a PC-version of NHL in EA's eyes.
Your idea that, "EA won't do it because they're scared PC modders will make their game better" is incredibly ignorant.

With crossplay having finally entered the mix, PC mods/cheats/exploits would be a real concern (I wouldn't say it's the main factor but something to consider).
In any case, we'll definitively know whether or not it's coming when they officially announce 24 in the coming months
- 2 years ago@DeMiGoD1988 Meh, wouldn't say that. Over the years EA has been creeping sports titles onto PC, and it is gaining players year over year. There may be a time when we see NHL on PC again. I welcome it.
Even if they did a one off, just a console port every 5-10 years, it would make those few happy with little effort. - SnizzBarDizz2oh2 years agoNew Veteran@DeMiGoD1988 you keep saying this, yet I continue to see more and more requests for sports titles on PC. We're not all just nerds playing WoW, dude. Also, they haven't put a port out since 2009 - why not make a modern port? If it sells it sells, great! Keep it going. More money for the money hungry company! If it tanks, then great. Now we know and we'll never do it again. BUT - now we have a modern version of the game on PC - AND THE PROOF that backs up your statement. Ultimately shutting us up (giving us satisfaction). I wish I could add in a crowd booing you soundbite.

Why is it they still release just about all other sports on PC? There is Madden NFL23 , NBA 2K23, etc. Why not PC?

Because those games are vastly more popular to warrant it
- 2 years ago
Because they’re much more popular than nhl. Nhl doesn’t even sell well on console. Games like FIFA madden and nba sell more copies on day 1 than nhl will the whole year.

I'm not sure why people keep bringing up money as an issue. We are talking about a BILLION dollar company that probably 1000x their money every release. Even if they sell it at a loss every year, the money that they make from MUT, FUT, & HUT packs across all 3 major platforms would more than justify a release. Add in the addition of crossplay and the game wouldnt be so dead even on consoles every year.

Yeah you're wrong, Madden 22 is still alive on PC thanks to mods people have made, I doubt anyone else is playing Madden 22 or 23 right now besides PC players because they have succeeded where EA has failed, if you would like to see all the cool mods people have made, watch some youtube videos on it and you'll see why everyone wants the NHL series on PC, it's not because we want to play stock NHL, it's because we want to mod it so we can make it better since EA has proved time and time again they can't. We could even make accurate NCAA teams with accurate jerseys, logos, rosters, arenas, and even accurate presentations, stop being so ignorant and closed minded, and think about all the possibilities NHL on PC could bring. - 2 years ago@DeMiGoD1988 I am so sick of random people defending EA. they make a stupid amount of money each year... If you can provide numbers with why they will lose money on this please do tell. Its not the same people every year look at the names.
I am a senior software engineer in the bay area... they have Madden on PC. they have Fifa on PC. the games use the same engine. not only that but porting it to PC is a one time cost (for the bulk of work) then after that its just maintenance (very little would be PC specific). The core game is there and the PC specific stuff could most likely be copy and pasted with little modifications...
As for servers... they scale with users. lets say theres 100-500 players online at a time thats a very small amount of servers relative to console... BUT I would assume theyre just servers they either host or AWS. just spin up the VMs to support that...
Idk why youre defending them - 2 years ago
So if racing is the only sports title that is worth porting to pc, why do they do it for FIFA, Madden, etc?
Utter nonsense there is a solid demand for this game on PC now, PC gaming has moved forward a lot since it was removed 14 years ago. Its only a matter of time till it returns
- 2 years ago
I play Madden, and NBA2k, both on PC. I do not own a console because they cannot even come close to a PC so your horrible logic is flawed.
