What should be done to change the drop in system that is currently in the game?
Current state in my opinion:
-Too many quits which leads to too many AI in a game you were wanting to play against other humans.
-Games are too long.
The games player base is too small for a time based deserter penalty so here are some alternatives.
NOTE: In order of how much work would need to go into the concept from most to least.
1. Drop in Server Lobbies: Multiqueue up your wanted positions and dive into the current game. Replace the AI at next stoppage. Remove the rankings and let people just play some pickup puck for 5-10min games. Normal XP gains apply and stats like pass%, shooting accuracy, etc are tracked.
2. Make Drop in games shorter like it is in certain HUT Rush and Rivals game modes. Lower min or less periods, or both!
3. Club FF rules: Two leave in 3v3 or three leave in 6v6, the other team wins. Quitters lose 2x RP, ones who stayed 1x.
4. Human players who leave are replaced with Rookie AI (inc. Goalie which changes how the game's played).
I think the above suggestions could make the game mode more fun and enjoyable to play while being fair to the team that was winning before the quits started but that's just me talking.
I want to know what others think of Drop-In? Is it in a good state? Does it need an overhaul? What are your thoughts?
