Discussion of “own goals”

If the devs play this game I'm Peter Pan. 

It's a game that' was untested until the community play test. Now they have no idea how to fix the disaster they created. 

A product that should have been shelved until it was playable. 

Look bro you've been robbed just like thousands of us. I've bought better fake gear from Ebay. 

It has been bad for years but the own goals are more noticeable this year and even more frequent somehow after the latest patch. In one of the first games I played after installing the game, I had an errant pass and the defender picked it up. There was no pressure on them and they literally skated back towards the net and slid it past their own goalie. This play made no sense whatsoever as none of my players were even in the offensive zone with the opposing player so somehow the AI decided it was a good idea to do that, which makes no sense at all. At that time which was the first week I'd guess that in every other game, id have an own goal but after the latest patch I'd say that 65-70% of the goals being scored in games by myself or AI is own goals and from that I'd say that most of them are making absolutely no sense, as players will turn and shoot on their own goalie, skate right at them and push it in, goalie will flip around all over and when they get up and will just randomly turn and kick it in. I get some odd bounces are okay and make it more realistic but when you have a percentage of 35-40% of actual good goals that really is a problem. 

My club has played about 60 games so far and I can safely say there were own goals scored in at least 10 of em, maybe as high as 20 and some games even multiple times.

AI has always been bad but they definitely seem to be doing it on purpose. Can't count the number of times I succeed in stopping a cross crease for it to just get shoved five hole on the goalie

What is even better is when there is an own goalie but calls for goalie interference when I was not even the player that scored the puck. So they scored on themselves but seeing that I bumped the goalie I was at fault for but was their own player directing the puck into the net due to the player being stuck in the turning animation too close to the net. I didn't know I could get goalie inference on an own team goal??? This could be somewhere deep within the NHL rules. I was not able to find anything about it when I looked but what was odd is that the faceoff after the non-goal call stayed in the opposition zone when it should be outside the zone.... 

It has now become "own goal 24" cause that is basically all it is nowadays. At this point, the game is becoming unplayable to the point it takes the fun out of the game cause you don't need to have skill cause the EA player animations will doom you no matter what skill level you have.

@EA_Aljo Can this be looked into as I have stated beforehand in a prior comment I can not go one game now without at least 1 own goal if not 3 or 4. It makes the gameplay unfair and unrealistic. Plus, from other comments in this thread, it looks like online is just as bad as offline play for own goals.

As always, I'll need videos to send over to the team. In my own personal play, own goals are rare, but I know they happen. Had one last night from an AI D man skating in to the goalie and knocking the puck loose. Frustrating for sure. Having 3 out of 4 happen in one game would seem to be exceptionally rare, but of course, it shouldn't be happening at such a rate. We'll need to see how these are occurring so it can be investigated further.

@EA_AljoI will try to get it in the next game I play. I play on superstar difficulty and had a 5-1 lead in the 3rd round of the playoffs and 2 goals in a row by my own players (Payton Krebs) turned and shot into his own net. Id guess trying to turn and clear it and the other was the defenseman trying to turn around but instead of going away from the net they went into the net.

@EA_Aljo I am working on figuring out how to get the video up but here are a couple of photos showing how the Dman for the AI team is skating towards his net. Not being pressured by my players at all and the next one showing the puck in the next without my team being close at all.
