Goalie shouldn't be in the desperation save animation nor flopping around. He had full Stamina as that was their first shot. Also... awful animation for defense literally dragging the puck backwards into the net

Here we have a clear goalie interference with no call. Penalties have become pretty non existent except for trips.

In this wonderful clip we have a few issues. The original puck carrier is shoved from behind by the Dman. He goes into the desperation dive animation as he falls toward the blue line. He manages to dive away from the net and shoot the puck backwards with speed despite being completely horizontal to the ice in mid air and falling away from the net. The puck hits the goalie with enough force that there is a rebound to the left side. The other forward kicks the puck which phases through the goalies stick and through his legs, despite being squared to it. It then trickles in.

In the last clip I think the toe of the G's stick was raised just enough that the puck went underneath but regardless, that was bad. Goalies are in dire need of an overhaul

Ya my buddy and I stopped playing - It's disheartening to see a clear skill gap in the game get washed away with horrible AI.

Easy to say play a game with all humans but even then actually playing as a goalie is worse feeling than watching an AI.

We need better mechanics and more animations for shot blocks, the AI needs perception and anticipation, there needs to be some sort of innate fear for all players when the puck is close to the net

I've said before that the lack of contextual awareness in the AI for animations is an issue. For instance, there will be times where the skater is in close, so you drop into butterfly. Then, when the shot comes low, your goalie will hop upas if he's trying to save a mid/high shot, thus giving up a low/5 hole goal he would've otherwise saved.

From speaking with other goalies who play competitively, I think the consensus is that we're tired of our goalies reaching out like stretch armstrong to save great shots painted for the top corner, but our goalies constantly giving up goals on simple shots because the puck hit us and bounced around our pads and in, or the goalie having the puck sitting in clear view right next to him, but not being able to cover it, or goalies constantly fumbling the puck instead of just catching it cleanly on simple wristers, or the game thinking we're screened because a player is standing slightly off to our side while our goalie can clearly see the puck.

It's interesting to me that, in an effort to make playing goalie less frustrating, they created the tether system - something no goalie main asked for, and something barely anyone uses, but completely ignored the issues discussed above which are some of the main sources of frustration with playing goalie.

I only play 5s so AI goalies for me. But they need to make the easy saves. And when the puck is in the crease or under them or whatever... just cover it. Dont kick it in or whatever. 

Had one where he was sitting on it. Instead of doing the "closed legs sit on puck animation" he decided to try and get up which kicked the puck in. 

What's weird to me is how it feels like the puck physics almost change once a shot's been taken. Like, when the skaters are passing the puck around, shooting for rebounds, or stickhandling back and forth, it's as if the puck's glued to a predetermined course. But, once the puck hits the goalie in the chest, all of a sudden the puck starts bouncing around like flubber.

This is the kind of frustrating bounce I'm talking about. Harmless wrister from near the corner. Simple save. What happens? Puck hits my goalie, bounces around my equipment, gets knocked in by my own goalie.

This is why nobody likes this game.
