The desperation clear does not need a bumped state. I've used this very frequently for clearing as it does a quick shot down the length of the ice.
- hiperay3 years agoNew Ace@EA_Aljo Forgive me for asking this because I have tried so many times to perform this move but failed and am disbelief as a result, but can you provide an example of you using the desperation clear with the double tap up on the RS? Id greatly appreciate this.

I get control of the puck in my zone and quickly tap up twice on the right stick. You should be able to go into free skate to try it out. You can also see this listed in the controller settings under the Defensive Controls tab.
- hiperay3 years agoNew Ace@EA_Aljo If you have control of the puck it is no longer a desperation move then, it is just a wrist shot in a certain direction. I thought the desperation moves were in relation to the last chance puck movement introduced in last years game since thats when these controls were added to the controls tab... am I missing something here?

It's considered a desperation because it's immediately being shot down the ice. Like I said, you can see this listed in the controller settings. Just give it a try and let me know what you think. It's worked very well for clearing the zone on the PK for me.
- hiperay3 years agoNew Ace@EA_Aljo yeah I know where the controller listing is for it as I knew it was added to the tab only last year with the introduction to last chance puck movement. What I don't get is where this is "activated" at because it looks no different from when you hit up once on the stick to trigger the wrist shot out of the zone. Hitting up a second time during that animation doesn't change anything from what I saw in testing when in control of the puck.

Yep. That's my mistake. I was messing around with it some more and you're right. Apologies for that. I just noticed it recently and have been using this to clear the zone. It felt like it was giving more length to my clears, but it must have just been a placebo effect. At any rate, we're aware of the feedback on clearing the puck. It's possible changes could be made in a future update.
- HighTmatthew3 years agoNew Veteran@hiperay Defence do have that option aswell and are also put in a position where they may get an interference penalty. Neither should happen because its completely unrealistic and a broken horrible mechanic. I am all for skill gap(Really enjoy the skill gap created with hitting) but this is simply a bad feature.
- hiperay3 years agoNew Ace@HighTmatthew How is it unrealistic that you have to wait until you actually pick up the puck before you can shoot it? That is the most realistic thing you can think of. You can't shoot a puck that never comes to you right? So having two people battle for positional advantage in front of said puck before getting it and either A. clearing it as the defense. or B. shooting a rebound at the net as the offense should make the most sense then from a realism perspective should it not? Which is why I also say that you should be able to do those previously mentioned "aggressive" dives or desperation moves at the puck when its in front. This would be most true to hockey in the form of players making bold attempts at loose pucks in front of the net from both the offensive and defensive teams respectively.

Huge problem...such a clunky disaster... I shouldn't be trying to hit when my team has the puck
