@hiperayit's unrealistic because nobody has ever gotten an interference call when they are trying to shoot it makes no sense. In real life both players are fighting to chop at the puck which is MUCH more realistically represented by players slapping up on their stick, to bat in a goal or bat away a rebound on defence that by awkwardly standing around waiting to see who randomly picks it up. That does not happen in the NHL. Yeah its frantic and mindless in some ways but so is REAL HOCKEY. Have you ever watched? Players don't awkwardly stand around waiting when a puck is infront of the net, they go crazy trying to wack at it.
Either way in NO WAY would they EVER get an interference penalty when attempting a rebound. That looks so unrealistic. I am a defenceman and I have definitely enjoyed baiting people into interfering with me on accident but I know it doesn't belong in the game. Thats not hockey. - HighTmatthew3 years agoNew Veteran@hiperay The problem here is the hitting and the shooting mechanics being the same input. I am not saying the player spamming should instantly dive to the puck and knock it in I am just saying that they should never get an interference penalty(offence or defence). That has never happened once to anyone playing hockey in that position. If the game is trying to be like hockey they have to take out the thing that doesn't happen in hockey.

"Thanks for the feedback. This currently is intended as you can't just hold up to put back a rebound or wait for a one timer in the slot. You need to hit up when the puck is in front of you."
@EA_Aljo
I agree completely with removing spamming shoot for rebounds and one-timers, but why make the player cross-check. You are punishing the player with a cross-check animation that often leads to penalties, when that is the last thing the player is trying to do. Why not make it so the player attempts a shot (i.e., whiffs) ? Doesn't this make more sense?THE GOAL is to NOT reward the player for holding up or spamming shoot over and over?
The best solution is to make the player do a shot animation, which would cause them to shoot early, and, thus, whiff. - EA_Aljo3 years ago

I revised that statement last week. It is not intended that penalties are being taken. This is being investigated.
- KirkMac3 years agoNew Traveler@EA_Aljo I possible fix would be to move shove to the B/Circle button.
As I understand it, currently B/Circle and up on the Right stick do the same thing. So if up on the Right stick was only shoot, and shove was moved to the button we would stop getting penalties for trying to shoot the puck. - hiperay3 years agoNew Ace@KirkMac You are incorrect. B does not do the same thing as up on the RS. B is the equivalent of going down up in succession on the RS. The right stick up is used to shove people off the puck, out of the slot, battling for a puck, etc. The RS shove has way more uses than what people think it is after all I keep getting told by the pros that I don't know what I am talking about and hitting up on the RS results in interference calls every time which couldn't be more wrong.

@hiperayYou are off base for two reasons, one may have something to do with whatever modes you play. Firstly, the way the game is setup is that you absolutely need to anticipate and "pre-press" an input any time you want to one-time something. Want to do a one-timer? One touch pass? Smack a loose puck? You need to press the input for it before you reach the puck or the puck reaches you. I feel for you as defense keeps getting nerfed and harder and harder to play but you are effectively arguing for removal of the ability of forwards to bat loose pucks into the net. The second reason is that in online modes, especially EASHL, there is a slight input delay that doesn't exist in offline modes. You do need to anticipate and occasionally spam a move you want executed a fraction of a second later instead of waiting for real time input. I get your logic about waiting to have the puck before shooting it, but with the input delay, even under good ping conditions you'd still get forwards unrealistically holding the puck in the crease for a moment before doing anything.
How long has right stick had shared inputs for shoot/hit? Since NHL '06? You'd think they would've realized it's completely r-worded to have hit and shoot share a button.

okay well if you’re investigating it still a month later that’s a bad sign. y’all need to fix it. it’s such a small fix it makes no sense to take this long.
