Assists don't count towards teamplay. What does are things like penalties, icing, losing faceoffs and going offside. Also, if your team gets scored on while you're in the box, you'll take a bigger hit. If your teamplay grade drops to an F, you'll be kicked.

How can assists not count toward team play? That is literally team play lol
I don't think losing face-offs should count either, sometimes someone is just better than you, doesn't mean you're trolling.
That's what this whole 'kick for poor team play' was made to combat, trolls. They've taken it a bit too far and maybe lost the original vision.

I played 3 6v6 WoC games last night. There wasn't one person kicked for poor team play so if this is happening frequently, your play is probably worthy of the F grade. We'll keep an eye out for more reports though and will make sure that feedback gets sent over to the team.

I'm not going to lie and say I was playing a great game, but the only bad things I did were the 2 trips. Assists should 1000% be factored into the algorithm controlling team play. It's actually kind of ridiculous that they're not. On top of that, the calculation should take into account the length of time a person is holding onto the puck as well.
I played a 6v6 drop-in game yesterday with someone on the attack who just held onto the puck and skated multiple circles in the offensive zone, never passed to anyone and then finally took a shot. In that instance, we were awarded pressure time and, I'll bet anything, he was rewarded with some kind of increase in teamplay for taking a shot after seriously 15-20 seconds of puck hogging.
In all of 23 I was not kicked from a single game. Not one.
I take 2 bad penalties in my very first game in 24 and I'm booted. That seems extremely weird to me. Especially considering I'm constantly playing with defensemen that think they're forwards, left wings and left d that spend all their time on the right side and goalies that think it's funny to leave the crease and let tons of goals in. I can't remember a single time they've been kicked from the game. In fact, I'm usually the one that ends up leaving because the experience has already been ruined way before any teamplay check is going to boot them (if it does).
Kicking someone for making mistakes that are normal hockey plays should not be happening.
makes sense, assists are offense but I agree the severity of it is too much

It's been that way for more than a decade. Assists go toward your offense rating, not teamplay. Would be cool if it went toward both, but if it can only go in one, offense definitely makes more sense since it is a point on the stat sheet. The question is, what things will raise your Teamplay grade once you've been docked? I know that body checks will raise it. Winning fights. Seems like there are a lot more things that dock it, than add to it perhaps? May be something for the devs to look into.

Yesterday i played with brother some eashl games..
We got kicked twice.. once i had to quickly run to the toilet. In the break. So my player was standing still some seconds.. got back. Got message i was kicked.. nice loss there.
Then later we were playing a good game. Beside our center man couldnt find a way to win the faceoffs. But thats the case many times. There are players out there, they are impossible to beat. Dont know why this should lead to poor team play. Totally wrong focus. He had lost 15 facoffs vs 2 wins... he had 2 goals and 1 assist. We turned around a 1:2 to 4:2... then he gets kicked for poor team play.. we talk about that after maybe 7 years of eashl we may quit this mode. How many other trolls.. with strange names and offending team play can get away and casual players that just wanna spend some hours of hockey get kicked because of faceoffs... he had 4 penalty min.. 10% teamplay the other players on the other side had 6 penalty min and 15% teamplay rating... why we got kicked not them..
The last game we played was also fun... we suddendly played for another random team with their jerseys, names and logo on... we won but we didnt got the w to our club... what are u guys doin?? Its a mess

You should be kicked for going to the bathroom.
As much as I would like to say losing faceoffs 15-2 should be a kickable offense, I definitely have had those game where you just can't beat the other guy and all he does is spam backhand straight back. You can usually tie them up, but sometimes not even that works.
So we've been asking for a vote to kick feature for 10 years... And you add this. Where now. The best player on our team, can have 5 assists. And youre gonna kick them for two penalties the other team capitalised on... This system is literally COMEDY.

You do understand the delicate balance between allowing people to decide who gets kicked vs a in-game system that auto-kicks? If there was a vote to kick feature, people would kick new players all the time just for not understanding the game as well as other people. This would discourage new players and lead to a sharp drop in participation and would be detrimental to the community and the brand. I too would like to vote to kick people, like trolls who drop in as EFD and just roll around and hit everything that moves (regardless of possession), people who play out of position, defensemen who constantly join the rush/abandon defense without a care in the world, goalies that play out of the net, raggers, etc. Unfortunately with that you would also get some abuse that I think would outweigh the benefit.
I think the issue is when you are playing as a club and not drop ins. Not sure how many people play with random club players because my club consists of all people i know. I can see some auto kick for ONLY drop in games but for club ranked games its absurd. I would also love an in between periods vote for kicking a player if thats an option but baby steps and remove it from club games would work in my opinion.
This same thing literally just happened to me. I had taken a few penalties in a close game, but otherwise was playing well. Had several assists, winning 80% of the faceoffs… they scored on a penalty in the third and I got kicked. I’m completely beside myself. I was trying a new playmaker loadout which didn’t have as high of a discipline stat. It’s a stupid mechanic the way it works right now. I’ve seen entire teams take penalty after penalty and goalies troll their own team in a blowout and nobody gets kicked. You don’t even give teams the options of voting to kick someone. Not only that but I didn’t gain any XP from the game, and I got kicked with 5 mins left to go in the third. What a complete waste of time. Considering how long it takes to queue for a match in 6v6 this is probably something you’ll want to look at.

It would be good to see the stats from that game. You really should only be getting kicked if you're playing bad enough to drop your teamplay score very low.
You shouldn't kicked from CHEL games at all. Friggin duuuuuumb.
I got kicked from a game we were winning 4-1 and lost because it's just the 2of us.
My problem is with getting kicked when my batteries die and I can't replace them in time. This has put Ls on the board when I'm running a perfect win streak.
