Appreciate the feedback. We announced changes will be coming to hip checks and The Michigan. This is from the most recent patch notes:

@EA_Aljo one thing that would be good in a new patch is the ability to use L1 to stop a shoulder check. Tapping O causes a shoulder check and holding and releasing O add force, but as of now there is no way to change your mind if you initiate a body check. Also while I really like the addition of the hip check, 90% of the hip checks thrown in the game would be called a slew foot. Another 5% would result in the offender simply skating around the check. Honestly if you look at NHL games, hip checks are very few and far between due to the speed of the game today and the likelihood of the other team drawing a penalty or the checking player causing an injury. While video game players don't need to worry so much about injury, if we're going for simulation, these things need to be taken into account. Thanks!
