I use a lot of stick tie ups without a perk to enhance that and it works fine. No need to use a perk to enhance this in my opinion. Use the perks for other area that the defensive ability is lacking. Interceptions, etc.
- @KidShowtime1867 I too had the same feeling when the skill stick became a thing and when I saw how superior people were to me using it that is when I decided I have to adapt.

After all this time, still no option to disable puck protect, such a simple thing as the possibility to switch it to off is too much asking. It was and still look as bad since launch. Give me the option to move it somewhere else or better, to remove it. That shouldnt be that hard to comprehend that more options = QoL.
And while the change made back then to reverse hit are great and made the chances to misclick very low, the chances are still there nonetheless, I still see poeples do it now and then. That kind of misclick should never happens in the first place. I personally NEVER use it, give me the right to disable it.
That would be greatly appreciated. Probably by a lot more poeples that you would think of. and Tampa's new alternate to

4 GB worth of nothing patch for us GM mode players. I love these updates

I think this is on purpose.
Firstly, I think part of this change was to combat the issue of players being stuck in a shooting animation. Previously, if a player was skating while holding shoot (in anticipation of a pass/rebound) in order to execute a one-timer/shot but the pass/rebound is errant, the receiving player got stuck in the shooting animation until the puck finally entered the possession area of the player again, and then the animation would play out.
Secondly, last year, there was a discussion about making one-timers more of a skill and timing mechanic. At the time, you could just hold shoot while skating in the O-Zone and automatically shoot when you received the puck. No responsibility for timing. No responsibility for body positioning. Just skate full speed in a straight line and in the context of HUT/OVP: Hit Pass and instantly hold shoot for a one-timer. For WoC: Hold UP and instantly hit a one-timer.
When '24 released, I believe EA made fundamental changes to the pass/loose puck & shooting logic to combat #1 and address #2.
Right off the bat, the community was in an uproar that one-timers weren't working because their player was trying to shove. IIRC, it took a patch or two until the vision-control mechanic was reverted to allow it to cancel hitting animations.
However, I still don't believe the vision-control mechanic has been entirely reverted back regarding shot anticipation. There are times people are holding it and still going for a shove, but I'm wondering if it's become context specific.
In short: I don't think EA wants offense to be able to just hit pass and hold shoot anymore. I think they want you to be more responsible for timing your one-timers and also when going for loose pucks on rebounds.
This makes the player models get less hung up in shooting animations - which makes net-front scenarios feel more dynamic. It also adds the responsibilty to offense that a lot of us want. If they can't manage their timing, then they get penalized.
It's akin to the substantial increase in penalties when EA was adding more responsibility on poke checking for defenders. Everyone complained, but it opened the game up more. It took a few tries, but EA was finally able to get it (poke checking) in a decent place.
It would be nice if EA would be forthcoming about that if this is their goal with these changes. That's what I miss about having devs interact here. Insight into the philosophy of a change to the meta was insanely helpful to those of us who liked to compete online but it also clarified why we were seeing more penalties and what skill/behaviour EA intended for us to acquire/modify to avoid them and thus, open the meta up a bit more.

I'd really love to see a comprehensive list of how exactly x-factors effect gameplay. For ex: Bouncer is buffed to pick up loose pucks. I always thought, according to its description, that it was only for "net battles" like tying up etc. So is Bouncer the front of the net area equivalent to No Contest? Are they the same but activate on different areas of the ice like close quarters vs Heatseeker?
- BabyPuncher5252 years agoRising Vanguard@KidShowtime1867 making one tees harder in woc isn't necessary, buff the manual one if anything but don't take away accessibility for less skilled players to enjoy aspects of what it's like to be an nhl caliber player just because they lack a certain skill threshold. Especially in modes like woc where you are accountable for every action your character takes, if someone's in position and open for a one tee and just holding LT and forward on RS let them rip a shot, keep the game fun for all skill levels imo. I know enough guys who struggle with one tees already let alone manual one tees.
Well , ain't that a kick to the chin
After how many months this is what we get 🤣🤣
Slow 👏 👏 👏 👏
