@EA_Aljo are you able to answer if the goal horns got updated to be more accurate and will do more blasts like in real life. Like if Vegas scores nine goals in the game like they did in real life to win the cup! Will I hear nine blasts and their goal song? 🙏🏻

Sorry, but I really don't have anything else to share right now. We'll just have to wait for more news on presentation to be announced.

@EA_Aljo So with what was said by the director for the game, I would assume that Franchise Mode and BAP will have no changes what so ever? This is a very disheartening Tweet to read by the people who are responsible for the creation of this game.
Mike knows better than I do so I would assume your assumption is true. As he says though, the gameplay changes provide new ways to enjoy offline modes. It sounds like there are plans for offline modes down the road.

@EA_Aljo I have heard that we have no hybrid stick control anymore ? Is that true ?
I really can't answer any questions about anything that hasn't been announced already. We'll have to wait for the deep dives and more information to trickle out.

I've certainly bought my fair share of games second hand over the years, but keep in mind, the more legit sales of the game there are, the bigger the budget for new additions and improvements. Buying the game second hand doesn't help in this case, but I understand not wanting to spend your money on a game that you feel isn't worth it.

I promise I’ll buy the game brand new once any effort gets put in to offline player/team customization and franchise mode.

This is terrible advice to be honest. Why in the world would we buy these games if they don’t even get updated (talking about offline modes)
sure the gameplay is a slight degree better (allegedly) but is that really worth spending 80 dollars on?
if the game that was put out was polished, and there were legitimate, meaningful changes to the game, then people would buy it and not wait to buy it secondhand.
but that never happens. Hasn’t happened in years now.
supposedly there’s plans to update the offline mode in the future, sure. But how long? And what? Locking us out of more customization options? Removing scouts? There isn’t very many silver linings here, especially after years of us complaining that we’re mostly ignored every year.
and this year, we were TRULLY, fully ignored.the only new things we’re seeing is base mechanics that every mode gets. Nothing new at all.
- bg0vzeyqov1y2 years agoNew Veteran@007hockey Yeah no way I'm spending 90$CAD yearly on a sports game made by a billion dollar company that doesn't even have basic appearance editing throughout the entire game, let alone a game mode looking/ functioning 80 - 90% the same each time. Franchise mode is miserable to play.

I was only commenting on how fewer sales don't help get those offline features added. With the majority of people playing online modes, there's obviously a heavy focus there. As stated, there are long term plans for offline modes. It's absolutely unfortunate that isn't reflected in 24. I can't state how much I would have loved for offline to get more attention and I'm not even an offline player.

Seeing as you have to read our complaints every day I 100% believe your last sentence, lol. I feel for you on some days.
But yeah, when I buy second hand, I’ll be connected to the network when I play FM so you should get that data on what’s being played regardless. If anything I’m potentially converting a sale from an online only player into an offline sale.

@EA_AljoI get what you're saying and i'd love all game modes/ all players to be satisfied! But EA is worth billions of dollars, they can easily afford to put budget into revamping franchise mode even with fewer sales. As mentioned before thank you for sympathizing with all the community!
90$CAD just to play the almost identical core game mode just with a new roster (as heavily mentioned one we cant do basic edits in like hair, playstyle etc. ) to me that's not worth it. Tho if roster/ franchise mode player editing is opened up (even just any basics I've mentioned)I will be heavily considering getting 24 (One of my main gripes with this mode is appearance, everyone looks either an old balding man or a sea of clones, I dont want to spend so much time creating a team/ franchise mode only to have the future of said team looking like a mess lol i'll just want to start over more frequently) I physically can't for 90$ unless it's THE hockey game of all hockey games lol

It certainly sounds like the goal for franchise mode is to move it online.
It’s obviously the right call, but unless they address the core issues of the mode online connected will probably fail as well.It will appeal to those that can find a solid group of 32, but I’m sure trolls will find a way to ruin it as there will be exploits for gameplay and team building.
As always I hope I’m wrong about that and we will have to wait and see how it goes.
If they at least addressed the problems that have been in these modes for the last couple years it might be worth a purchase even without anything new. That’s a sad statement to make.
I’ve been lucky enough to get the game for free the last few years and will try and continue that trend before buying. - 2 years ago
ea might be worth billions of dollars but the nhl team is small compared to madden and fifa. gotta remember madden and fifa sell more copies day one than nhl does the whole year combined

No excuse for what they have done to this game. They have wasted their limited (according to you) resources on levitating player intros, trick shots, power up meters, etc., Instead of making the gameplay better for about a decade. They have actually made the skating far worse since NHL 14, doesn't take a large team to not make things worse.

The skating was less realistic in NHL 14. Moving laterally had your skates staying on the ice. Which is physically impossible. NHL 14 also had more assistance from the game. Pucks weren't so loose. The puck was glued to your stick when taking slapshots. Passes her more on target as well. You're certainly entitled to your opinion that gameplay mechanics are less realistic now, but that really isn't the case. I'm also not saying it's a 1:1 recreation of the real-world sport. This is a video game after all.

I’m always a little confused when I hear the skating was better prior to NHL 19. I haven’t gone back and played those games since they were new, but my memories of the skating in those games are horrible. The skating now is a little too much McDavid mixed with Makar at times, but tight turns and smooth pivots were non existent if I remember correctly.
Anyways, we are out here talking about realism when they made the Michigan and between the legs dekes easier to pull off than a slap shot this year…

Is there going to be a gameplay update for this. I played shootout in the season mode in nhl 23 and made the winning save but no horn played like it would in real life. Can this be fixed for 24 🙏🏻

It seems like true broadcast camera is back and I couldn’t be happier. Can you confirm this? @EA_Aljo
im not very picky and this has always been my favorite game but it’s literally unplayable for me without tv style true broadcast camera.

Whatever they did in NHL14 they should be striving to get back to, because it was a better, funner video game to play. - EA_Aljo2 years agoCommunity Manager

They want a game that is more fun than real. We try to create a balance of fun and realism, but this is subjective as not everyone has the same idea of what makes the game fun.

Oh I agree, you can't please everyone!
NHL14/15 is/was beloved though, so EA knows what makes a good Hockey video game and what people want. They just need to figure out how to get back there game play and feature-wise on these new gen machines with the new engine.
- hiperay2 years agoSeasoned Veteran@de4c0nfr05t Feature wise, sure you can make that argument. Gameplay wise though? Forget that. The game is trash in comparison to now gameplay wise. Go watch an NHL 14 game and you will see how painful it is. Its night and day of a difference.
- de4c0nfr05t2 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
@hiperayCouldn't disagree more. I still played NHL15 online up until they shutdown the servers a couple year ago. Just so much funner, especially playing goalie.

Exhaust Engine has always been there. It’s certainly in NHL23. The cpu can become dominant in the offensive zone and ramp
up their speed of passes. It’s almost like it was a bug that they decided to make into a feature! I don't know why people so hyped every year before than be disapointed. Maybe many forgot about last years removing of presentation.
- 2 years ago@nhluser New goalie animations are one thing, but this offensive power engine seems for me more or lesser a marketing gag cause from my sight it is in at NHL23. I clearly can watch it in true broadcast mode. They should give me a new roster update for NHL 23 ( with some new headshot pics, some new player likenesses ) and it will be good enough for me to continue with 23.

Check my Setup/Roster/Gameplay for 23. Spent close to 600 hours on all of this, to bring 23 to the next level IMO 😀

The problem is nhl 14 worked better because it was more balanced and things seemed to actually work based on user input. In nhl 23 everything just seems way too random and every game plays differently. You could poke check the puck 5 times off a guys stick and nothing happens and then the next game every poke world. I never had that issue on nhl 14.. there were less animations which was better and the game played more simple which allowed us to play and not let the games X factors or randomness decide things. I also remember much more balance between d and o and passing was better along with it being harder to score which was better too. Not sure why defense always gets the crappy builds
- KlariskraysNHL2 years agoHero@TasteofChicago91 But you see back then people complained about puck on a string and the same results always happening on situations. Now we get the randomness that happens in real hockey and people can't stand it.
Puck-Moving Defensemen is probably one of the best builds int he game. So many wingers even use that build and it bothers me they even allow that and says it needs balanced/toned down.
