Non-gameplay changes?
Is drop-in at all different, or are we still stuck in the outdoor rinks with the clown gear? Has griefing been addressed at all? Be a Pro changes/additions? Franchise? Any changes to the netcode ...
Hey, @Moxrox84
We'll have WoC news coming soon with a deep dive. As far as matchmaking goes, that is mainly based on the available player pool for the region you're in. As well as what the filters are set to. I was mostly playing 6v6 with 3/4 humans and we were getting in to games pretty quickly. With 6s it's possible that's going to take longer due to a smaller 6s population. Also, 23 wasn't exactly received well so hopefully, 24 brings some people back and grows the player pool.
Matchmaking in drop in doesn't seem to follow though...I can search and get popped into a room with 2 per side. I know that the most we might get in that room is 3v3, but usually 2v2. For some reason, no one else ever joins. I can bail out of that room, search again, and get another 2v2 room that doesn't get anyone else...but I can bail out of that room, search, and get a new room with 5 or 4 per side, which can fill up. There's definitely something off with the matchmaking...it's been this way ever since drop in went outdoor and the lobbies disappeared.
Drop-ins are a whole different issue. Personally, they're way too toxic for me to even enjoy. I would love to see changes made to reduce that toxicity, but that's a whole different conversation. I'd rather wait for my club to be on than play drop-ins. I imagine there are many others with that mindset as well. So, I can see how it would take 45 minutes to find a match since people keep backing out of the lobby. If drop-ins are your main mode for WoC, it's understandable how frustrating that would be.
With the drop-in being toxic for 6's I found when OTP/Lobbies were a thing it wasn't as bad as many think. We had like 2 trolls on both PS3/Xbox 360 back then. With current matchmaking I find I run into them more often than not. The 6's population was huge but many decided to stay away from new gen since lobbies were removed. This drove a person that used to play normal back then to become the biggest troll on PSN... Much of them had families/jobs but now since we can't get quick pickup games like we used to they don't have time to play club or use discord to gather people. Pretty much why club disbanded as we work different schedules. When lobbies were around or we even had the chance to select jerseys and play in an indoor area aside from outside with 2 bland hoodies for 6's the population was better. Yeah text chat was out of hand but doesn't need to be there... The 6's casual community is leaving the series as I'm part of that area since club and banana leagues don't work due to IRL Especially when I work 12pm to 11pm or longer 5 days a week.

Totally agree with you there, there's something off with the matchmaking (drop-in). Been like that for 2-3 years now. Me and a friend make fun of it all the time because well, it bug out all the time every night.
The exemple you said with the 2vs2 or 2vs3 happens every now and then, even at peak hours. It's like all the position are ''locked'' and nobody else can join that room, no matter what...until one person leave the lobby, then boom it instantly fill up entirely. Like that one person was making a blockade that lifted once he left lol. weird lobby tendencies.
It happen in bigger room too, sometimes just in one position, it's even more obvious when that position is a winger, which almost instantly fill up all the time normally, but when the room is full and that one position is left empty for the entire 2 minutes at midnight a saturday night, you know something is wrong with the lobby. Position is again, kind of locked and will stay empty for the remaining time....or if someone leave then maybe all of a sudden it will fill up again.
This also happen a lot if there's only one goalie in the room...where the matchmaking seem to try to hold both side at 5vs5 (5 skaters vs 4 skaters and a goalie). And will hold to this until another goalie join or when there's 10 or less secondes to go before the game launch. It happens so much that we can predict it now a day.
Hell, there's even situation where a room is set 5vs5 skaters and for whatever reason one side completly leave (maybe friends with bad ping or they feel insecure and afraid to lose CR lol) and literally for all the time remaining, nobody join...not one person...leaving us at 5vs0 for over a minute waiting and nothing happen.
I would say that I back out of ''at least'' 4-5 lobbies every night I'm on because they glitch out....so there's definitly something not alright with it.
@EA_Aljo, is there something in 24 that permits VS/coop online with your own settings/rosters ? Or that’s still a no go ?
Bump !
Thanks !
