Hey there, @vinnyfbaby88
The reason this wasn't intercepted is due to the power of the pass so your players reaction time was a little late. Also, the defensive awareness attribute is in play so if that is on the lower end, interceptions won't be as likely. Thanks for getting the video. That greatly helps understand what happened.

If that's the reasoning then why can the offensive player play the puck without losing speed here? He's not even facing the play and receiving it on his back hand.
The power of the pass should only matter if you're close to the passer. He's right next to the receiving player. Rocket passes are a serious issue that needs addressing.

Thank you for your reply. For clarification the pass is hard enough for my player not to react accordingly but not hard enough for my stick to change the trajectory of the pass? Yesterday I played with a TWF 88 defensive awareness and silver quick pick. I found that in some situations like this I would intercept it and in others I would just interrupt the pass as in the puck deflecting off my stick into the corner or out of the zone. I do understand the broader problem with an overall buff to the defensive awareness in the game as 5v5 can get very congested in the o zone, However, in EASHL 3v3 specifically I believe an overall buff to defensive awareness would be received positively as too many players are being rewarded for making a bad hockey play.

The defensive awareness attribute doesn’t work right. I’ve had plays where I was in position and the game decided the pass was getting through.. at 99 d awareness. It should never get through if you hold L2 and are facing the pass OR if your stick is angling towards the play and you time your poke check.
So tired of people coming up with excuses of why things don’t work right
- NeonSkyline212 years agoSeasoned Ace@TasteofChicago91 There's also the fact that certain badges/high enough offensive awareness and passing attributes will have the game auto-saucer the pass for the offensive player (which is ridiculous).

Update Mike Inglehart said in an interview on sleeveless gaming that the team is aware of inconsistencies when manually intercepting passes.

Are we seriously going to blame the user on this one?
With one touch passing there's an audible noise, is there not?

That would be fine if the pass power and reaction time also mattered for the offensive players but it doesn't. Different rules for defense and offense.

What do I do here. In the first video Lidstrom has gold quick pick on and doesn’t intercept the pass. The second video I am in the passing lane. In the third video I am moving to where the rebound will be and the defensemen use hit foot and kicks the puck to the other guy instead of using his stick to intercept the puck. Please help

Gold quick pick is basically useless this year. Really does absolutely nothing. I've tested it out and it's a literal waste of space. Doesn't improve your reach, doesn't improve your hand eye, pucks still deflect off of you.
You can literally have 97 defensive awareness and gold quick pick and passes will still go right through or off of your player.

This thread needs to stay towards the top of the list along with any thread discussing the absurdity of invincible puck handling vs. perfect defensive positioning.
Why does passing and stick handling have to be so magnetic in this game? It’s obviously unrealistic and really damages the mechanics of the game. There should be more jostling back and forth for the puck when the defender is in good position to battle for the puck.
Instead, defense either has to go with ridiculously big hits (that aren’t as common as this game would make you believe) or an uncontrollable stick check that debilitates the defender if not sending them to the penalty box. And if you choose to simply play good defensive positioning without using any of the aforementioned impractical techniques, the puck handler has freedom to skate right through you without hardly a moment of loss of control.
By the way, I understand that hitting would be effective in this scenario with the current game mechanics, but it’s so unrealistic that it irritates me as both the defender and the puck handler. It’s either so overpowered that the puck handler is sent to the ground without the impact having any consequence to the defender, or (on the other hand) it’s so clumsy that the defender flings himself out of position leaving the puck handler with all the space in the world. It’s all or nothing; but it shouldn’t be as that is not what real hockey is like. Real hockey tends to be more of a physical bodying/sticking back and forth battle on the puck. It’s not like basketball where as soon as a 50/50 ball is secured by a player, the opposing player has to back off to avoid a foul… but unfortunately that’s kind of what this game feels like.
