@Sega82mega Hopefully there is some drawback to icon passing.. if it's just hit "x" and pass to nearest guy and it auto sauces/ goes off the boards to hit him in stride that makes passing too easy imo.. passing is one of the few skill gaps in the game.
@rsandersr47It will make the X-Factor passing traits actually mean something is what it will probably do. I have a teammate who runs 75 in passing and they could still do amazing passes in NHL 23. So if people are rocking like 90 passing with a good passing X-Factor I'd expect them to be deadly.
Icon passing is a gamechanger because it's fast and crisp and will make best use of the 1 touch passing. So hopefully it is done right where actual passing attributes matter. That is the biggest thing is making the attributes actually matter.
@Sega82mega Icon Passing is 100% easier but it's using your brain of when to pass and whom to pass to is what matters. The controls are more simplified imo which puts everyone on a more even ground, but you need that big brain to truly execute still and that will go a long way.
All good, but all of this, is gonna clog up the ice with even more stuff no ? Icons for passes, Icons for pressure, Icons for this, icons for that… You get the idea… Pretty soon, seeing the ice will be a thing of the past 👋
@PernellKarl027You are talking to someone who played World of Warcraft at it's peak popularity using like 40+ addons and like 1/4th of the screen covered in stuff to observe while also paying attention to the game.
This was our healer playing and he was amazing. My screen looked similar with addons.

Fair enough. Perhaps it will drive up the pace of passes.
Something about icon passing that scares me but same time I wouldn't wanna be without it.
Im glad EA finaly show some balls and try some new stuff and then maybe take it from there.
I sure hope Icon passing is protected from spam, so you cant go nuts with icon so it becomes more pinball then hockey.
Could be glitchy, hope not though! - @KlariskraysNHL I think the passing attribute is mostly for getting pucks through traffic rather than making a successful pass so in that way it has always mattered. You can easily get by with a 75 if you don't make any risky cross crease passes and don't blindly throw it behind to a defenseman.
I mean should we award teams wins for having better builds or being better at the game? 75 passing means he had to have been using his brain to make good smart passes.
I just hope there's a balance or some drawback. We see missed passes in the NHL I think it should happen in game. I'll reserve judgment until I see it though.- Often times when making a pass, I'll use the right stick to change the angle of the pass to get around defenders. I wonder how that's going to work with icon passing seeing as you can't use the right stick and press a face button simultaneously.
