Some little things I noticed from the trailer

Drop-ins appear to be back inside

Referees seem to have gotten much bigger

It appears when you obtain "Full Pressure" , you get 30-seconds of this advantage even if you leave the zone and come back:

One thing I'd really like to be addressed is the icon-based passing. I would assume each face button is mapped to a position, but due to there only being 4 face-buttons, I understand there needs to be some changes on the fly.

I would expect Right-D to remain as the A button. I'd suggest maybe adding R1 as an icon option so that you can remember where each button should pass to, and then maybe adjusting the passing mechanic so that a double-tap on any button is a saucer pass.

This would be especially handy in 6's when you can memorize what pass-button your teammates are on.

It also appears that the button pushes for one-touch-passing triggers the body check animations:

Am I also seeing this right that player interactions with the goalies can now cause goalie stumbles?

@PernellKarl027You are talking to someone who played World of Warcraft at it's peak popularity using like 40+ addons and like 1/4th of the screen covered in stuff to observe while also paying attention to the game.

This was our healer playing and he was amazing. My screen looked similar with addons.

I can easily not be bothered by the stuff on screen because I'm laser focused on the actual game.  Now for offline it could be an eyesore.

Fair enough. Perhaps it will drive up the pace of passes.

Something about icon passing that scares me but same time I wouldn't wanna be without it.

Im glad EA finaly show some balls and try some new stuff and then maybe take it from there.

I sure hope Icon passing is protected from spam, so you cant go nuts with icon so it becomes more pinball then hockey.

Could be glitchy, hope not though!

Have we finally been freed from the heckscape that is outdoor arena's for WoC outside of the super arcade-y gamemodes? What wild thing will they do next? Attempt to address how terrible it feels to actually attempt to play drop ins?

I shouldn't be too negative but that really is at least a small positive win.

Doesnt really matter if they let us play indoor....with the same small crowd we have outdoor and if we still play 6s with only two bland teams with also only two colors, black and white. All the same in the end.

I wonder what the difference between normal passing and Icon passing will be?

How is the strength decided with Icon.. And whats the succes rate, I guess the puck wont with magic land on the tape just because you call for passes with help of Icon..

Wonder when It's better to use the diffrent style of passing..

Another thing they mention in the trailer was breakaway passes, but maybe that work the same as Icon..

Damn, there will be a lot of buttons going on..

    * classic Kid thread, lovely mister! 😁🙏

Referees have been on the gym... Giants!

I guess you still have to hold R2 down then choose X,Y,A,B so the strength will be used just the same as right now? I suppose.

I'm more personally concerned by the fact that you'll have to let go your right stick to use icon passing. Using your skill stick to strech your stick ahead or behind legs or go around bodies before a pass can be such a must in most situation....I can't see myself in base position everytime I wanna try the new passes system D:

I'm curious to try out though.

@KlariskraysNHL I think the passing attribute is mostly for getting pucks through traffic rather than making a successful pass so in that way it has always mattered. You can easily get by with a 75 if you don't make any risky cross crease passes and don't blindly throw it behind to a defenseman.

I mean should we award teams wins for having better builds or being better at the game? 75 passing means he had to have been using his brain to make good smart passes.

I just hope there's a balance or some drawback. We see missed passes in the NHL I think it should happen in game. I'll reserve judgment until I see it though.

Often times when making a pass, I'll use the right stick to change the angle of the pass to get around defenders. I wonder how that's going to work with icon passing seeing as you can't use the right stick and press a face button simultaneously.
