I'm on the same boat here. Yesterday pre-ordered the game and just started free trial. No hybrid controls no good at all. @EA_Aljo When will we get hybrid controls, any news about this?
Luckily I was still able to cancel my order. Not gonna buy the game until I know the date when hybrid controls are back.
When they said they would provide "concrete details" in the "near future", they were probably referring to time in relation to the age of the Universe. No accountability required.

We said it would be post launch. The game just released in early access yesterday and fully releases on Friday. Anytime after that is when we'll have an update returning the hybrid and NHL 23 goalie controls. We're not going to give an exact date because it's very possible that could change if something is found at the last minute. We're working to get this out as soon as possible. That's all I can say right now. I assure you we are absolutely aware of the comments here and how badly you want these back. It's not something we're going to rush though. That also doesn't mean it's going to take months.
I find it upsetting that EA would mess up this bad to not have it figured for the people who wasted their hard earned money on the X-Factor edition to not only gain same lame bonus content (Sorry but I dislike HUT.........) and get 3 days early access to play they game EA has so heavily promoted. Only to get wrecked by the fact that they could have saved $40 bux (Canada).
I understand that they want to "get it right" when the removal of HC was stupid to begin with.
I am aggravated buy the lack of effort towards their player base on this.
@EA_Aljo i am not mad at you at all as I know you are just a moderator in these forums. I am just upset because I paid for something that doesn't work as intended.
They had weeks to implement this. Instead they waste their efforts on the stupid battle pass and HUT (Which is trash).
Community ManagerBattlepass and HUT aren't the reasons for why this hasn't been returned yet. There is an update coming. We don't have too many of those so we have to make the most of each one. The update will have address multiple issues and not just the hybrid/goalie controls. We were up front about this so there was time to cancel pre-orders. We also stated that the update would be post-launch.
@EA_Aljo I did mention in previous comment that I noticed the post about a post launch patch. Just upset it isn't available when I wanted to play it.
Bad decisions made by people who clearly don't understand the player base in the first place. Yes I know there are new people who are looking over how NHL works moving forward. I just wish they would have done their homework before making such a drastic decision like removing controls in the first place.
But what do I know. I am just the idiot who puts faith into EA to do something right the first time.
Community ManagerI'm definitely sorry we let you down. Of course, that's never something we want to do. I really wish we had left the hybrid controls in because I know this is an accessibility issue for many. Thankfully, they are returning. It's unfortunate that the update isn't fitting in to your schedule, but we will get it out as soon as we can.
I hope it comes in a day one patch. Waiting to play it would suck.
