@EA_Aljo I did mention in previous comment that I noticed the post about a post launch patch. Just upset it isn't available when I wanted to play it.
Bad decisions made by people who clearly don't understand the player base in the first place. Yes I know there are new people who are looking over how NHL works moving forward. I just wish they would have done their homework before making such a drastic decision like removing controls in the first place.
But what do I know. I am just the idiot who puts faith into EA to do something right the first time.
I'm definitely sorry we let you down. Of course, that's never something we want to do. I really wish we had left the hybrid controls in because I know this is an accessibility issue for many. Thankfully, they are returning. It's unfortunate that the update isn't fitting in to your schedule, but we will get it out as soon as we can.

I hope it comes in a day one patch. Waiting to play it would suck.

I also hope that the hybrid controls will be in friday when the game is officially released.

@EA_AljoAfter spending some time with the new goalie controls, I think the tethering system is alright. Definitely usable. However, the auto post hug was an absolute miss. There's a reason virtually none of the top competitive goalies use post hug.
Firstly, hugging the post is slow. Hockey's a fast game, and you have to be able to move and react quickly. That's hard to do when you get sucked onto the post and feel like you're held there with cement. It's awful.
Beyond that, the animations and saveability are horrendous when hugging the post. You're almost guaranteed to get sniped if the shooter shoots the puck while you're hugging the post. Don't know why tbh, but that's always been my experience.
When the old controls are patched in, I really hope they don't include auto post hug.
