No matter what mode we play if you have a cpu you are doomed… if on offence they take penalties for no reason they don’t know how to pass or shoot they are just pylons. When in D the don’t play their position and skate out of the way and get beaten every time. Can we please EA put some integrity and ethic into our games and not allow them to operate in such poor conditions.
If youre talking about playing online and there is bots, thats a very difficult problem to solve. You dont want the AI to be too overpowered to make it unfair for the players. Ive played lots of game against the AI where they have been not terrible at defending.
Community ManagerOne way to help keep them in position is to make sure the human controlled players are staying in position. When anyone is out of position, it means the other players need to move around to cover the open ice. This means the AI players aren't always in the best position to make a play.
Of course, there are still times AI players are going to make mistakes. They are trying to replicate humans after all.
There should, at the very least, be an option to turn off the AI covering for you when you are "out of position".
As a 3v3 player I am quite literally forced to get "out of position" and be everywhere all at once. I'm convinced they use 6v6 logic there too so it only makes things worse.
Having them take unsportsmanlike penalties on the other side of the rink in no way replicates my human playstyle.
I play generally with close to a full team of friends expect 1 or 2 and then your always stuck with a CPU defensemen. Every time like clock work the D pinches or tried to hit and misses and the opposing team blows by them for a breakaway. It’s poor game programming and development. I don’t need it overpowered, I need them reliable and not a liability out there. What ever happened to AI learning when the opposing team does the same thing everytime the cpu should be able to pick that up and counter it. I’m so tired of this game being junk year in year out.

Your forwards should be looking for the D to pinch and cover them. 99.999% of human forwards don't cover the D pinching and suffer this fate. Learn to cover the D that pinches. Basic hockey fundamentals.
The next logical question is why does the D pinch so much - and that has a lot to do with the current strategies that EASHL teams rarely ever adjust.
The A.I. are able to identify whether or not they'll be able to get to a loose puck before another player. If the D recognizes they can get to a loose puck and obtain possession before anyone else, they will. It's up to the human forwards to be cognisant of this and many aren't.
