Would Like to See a Buff to Net-Front Perks (Not Close Quarters)
Hi there,
This is totally my opinion but I would like to share a suggestion that I have held the last couple of years.
First off, I'm glad there was a nerf to Close quarters, i think its in a good spot now, credit to the game team to balance that better.
Personally, I like to run grinders and two way forwards, builds that are "medium" size and I like to play a game where I create turnovers and go hard to the net to set up screens, rebounds, tips for my teammates. We play competetive 6v6, and I know I am not using a "META" build that has Gold Elite edges and max speed that almost every single player uses (EE needs to be removed but thats a totally different issue that I wont get into here)
I would like to see a buff to both Crease Crasher and Eclipse honestly. Its really not worth the investment to run gold crease crasher to get a buff ONLY on rebound shots WHEN Your player corrals the puck directly from the opposing goalie AND ALSO you have time to shoot as your next action. There is just so much setup that has to happen to even get this GOLD trait to activate, that it would be nice if it was more versatile and usable. There is basically no reason why you would ever run this trait once you have tipper or eclipse unlocked. I think it would be healthy for the game if there was some change to the mechanics, either gold crease crasher activates but only if you're right on the doorstep, like within 5 feet of the net, much like close quarters but literally even closer range, or if that's not entertainable, then give the X factor a 10 - 15 second window to remain active regardless of what happens after a shot is put on the opposing goal, then this trait would be much more viable and that would be healthier for the game, in my opinion. Crashing the net is a fundamental hockey play that is coached and practiced at every level of Hockey and the trait should be at least decent to strong, not a D tier trait which is what it currently sits at due to how much setup it requires.
Regarding Eclipse - I think this trait is in fairly good shape however it is not strong enough. I think it should be considered that if a pass originates while the opposing goaltender is under the effects of Eclipse, they should have a delayed reaction in responding to the pass and where the pass is going. For example, yesterday i was in front and had the CPU goalie fully obstructed by Eclipse, and my LD passed to my RW on the powerplay. Under Full Pressure the goaltender tracked the pass with no impediment to his vision whatsoever and snagged a GOLD 1t (94 slap shot power) like it was nothing. This should not be the case, in real hockey one of the hardest things to do is track the puck through a screen and that is not limited just to facing shots while screened, slot traffic is a huge issue. If there is a ton of traffic in front, the goalie should not know where the puck has gone through input reading, or through a "camera" angle (in the case of a human). I think this would help substantially in the effectiveness of the trait, while still not making it OP.
Anyway, thanks whoever reads this and if you guys like it please give it some love maybe the suggestions can be at least brought up. I just want to see traits that really reinforce TEAM HOCKEY to be the strong traits, or at least competetive. Not taking a back seat to those that promote individual efforts like Elite Edges and Close Quarters.
