Manual contract extension bug

I noticed this in NHL 23 also and it might have been a thing before that too.

Currently Colorado's cap situation in the game does not agree with the real world situation, therefore we have to make adjustments to players salaries to make most of the salaries correct. I've already made a post on how MacKinnon (among others) get's his salary automatically lowered by almost 1 million dollars at the start of the franchise, which to most of us who cares about the numbers being correct when we play franchise is quiiiite annoying.

To the bug! I have added Devon Toews $7.250M extension myself. (just remember this)

To make Colorado's cap situation work, I lower Toews remaining year before the extension kicks in to league min $775k.
I also lower Tomas Tatar and Pavel Francouz (who are on expiring deals) to league min $775k.
Since it needs a bit more for MacKinnon and his friends to make their actual salary, the last step is to lower either Bowen Byram or Ryan Johansen (with 2 years left, but that can't be helped, sorry Bowen or Ryan) by ~$850k (notice not to 850k, BY 850k).

This does make the contracts correct, with the exception of the contracts adjusted of course, which are meant to do as little damage as possible to the overall realism.

Everything looks okay now, except that the Devon Toews extension goes bananas and drops to $845k. Colorado has $8.230M cap space in the game, so I don't understand why Toews extension can't be correct. Colorado should have ~$1.000M left and a properly working extension.


I don't have any examples from NHL 23, but I remember the same thing happening then to extensions I added myself there too when there were cap issues.

I'm fairly certain that the adjustments I describe will work fine with the next official EA roster, when Toews extension is not added manually, but obviously this should work even if we add extensions ourselves.
