Try going to myaccount.ea.com. Make sure you log out. Then, when logging in, click on the PS icon and login with your PSN ID. It should look like the image below:
After that, try playing NHL 24 again and let me know what happens.
Hello, I have tried to execute the log out and then log back into my "my account.ea.com" to only get the following message once I had logged in with PS account credentials to only received the following info:
And yes I did reset my password and this did not help anything. I am not able to get past this info to log into my EA account.
Pls advise.

As a test, go into your EA account and disable login verification. Then, try again and let me know what happens.

Is this only happening when you try to select a favorite team? If so, have you tried selecting different teams or do you always choose the same one?
Also, can you check again to make sure there is nothing plugged into the USB ports?
