Unlike some others I am actually content with the gameplay on the ice in regard to movement. the pivot feels a bit better and easier to explain on how a player is so agile specially with the modifications to agility and elite edges (removal). I am a big advocate of less X-factors ambiguity and more clear ratings impact.
You can tell there are some Jank and exploitation by players with jittering the new movement pivot, then on top of that they are abusing puck protect angle to a deke to a shot. I believe there should be a cool down/longer pause on going from puck protect to a deke or to a shot (leave deke to a shot as is but the puck protect to either is the issue). the AI does it too by the way. or decrease the power from a protect to a shot. you can even see the animation in slow motion that the player doesnt have two hands on the stick but still rips a nasty shot (slap, snap, or wrist)
shooting is where I think we have majority of the issues are, as I have seen way too many near post goals from what I believe is 45 to 60 (near blueline) feet from the goalie with clear vision of the puck. 100% worse vs AI goalies, but also affecting Human goalies in good position. NOW I say shooting, but I don't know if it a goalie issue I play skater and only see it from that perspective.
Stick check- massive improvement to stick lift still there are times where the penalty for a stick infraction is nowhere to be seen, the animation visual doesn't show an infraction and you still get one.
Interference- there needs to be more room for a no call when the puck is in the vicinity of the player, but this is subjective I think some of the calls are very soft.
outside of that I feel gameplay is a step in the right directions big Players feel BIG, and small player feel Agile and Nimble. There is always room for polish, but as a simulation compared to last year this feels better.
