So I went to YouTube, typed 'NHL 25 LT' and the only in-game videos are from HUT.
The speed disparity between jacked up HUT teams and their weaker opponents is what lends LT 'abuse' to be so prevalent. It's not about getting a speed boost at all - it's that a HUT team with forwards that have 99ACC and 99 SPD are using LT to fake out slower defenders into taking an action that will slow them down more such as a mistimed hit/poke check or a poorly timed transition to forward skating to match speed.
Go to YouTube and do the same search and watch the videos - the only non-hut videos you'll see is some jackal yukking it up while burning Ai-defenders in practice mode claiming 'the game is broken'.
Once again I'll say that expecting 100% realism in Hockey Ultimate Team is why some of you are so angry about the state of the game. HUT is not a balanced game mode in any way whatsoever. It's designed that way to entice you into spending money in order to have a team that can compete with others who grind/spend money.
I know a lot of you take pride in your skill at this game, and if you're going about HUT the honest way by grinding out a top-tier team; chances are, at some point, you're going to come up against a stacked credit card team that will burn past all your players with ease.
I think that scenario drives a lot of people to claim things are unbalanced, LT is a speed boost, etc.

Dude come on really. If you guys can fix it for 26 you can fix it for 25. You don't build every game from scratch you update the previous version. You absolutely could watch this in 25. Even if it's the day before 26's release you could still patch it. The real reason they won't is greed.
How does not fixing this possibly mean we're greedy? That couldn't be further from the truth. If it were something that could have been fixed without negatively affecting the game, it would have been done. This is taking time and testing to resolve. With being so late in the game's cycle, it's better left for a future game.

Ok? So because youtube only shows HUT clips the game is fine? Not really an argument for the L2 to me, I have not touched HUT in over 5 years and the L2 abuse has been in the game for just as long. It always allows a speed burst and unrealistic movement in the game. Its defendable but since they nerf Defense every year it always gives the offense an extra tool to use that shouldn't be a thing. You can even test it yourself where if a guy skates strait down the ice and does not use L2 he will not get from one end to the other as fast, I have done these tests myself instead of just watching youtube clips.

L2 abuse has not been in the game that long. There was a previous issue with it being exploited in either 23 or 24 as well as this year. In both cases, they could still be defended. We are extremely well aware of these reports and are looking to address it in a future game.
Defense is not nerfed every year. Defense has largely stayed the same for the last couple of years. With the exception of hip checks moving to one button. Which is also an exploited action. I get that offense feels OP. They have a whole set of dekes and many of them one touch. Regardless, good defenders can stop them. Part of being good at any position is utilizing the tools you have. There are a lot of very skilled defenders that can stop forwards trying to exploit LT'ing. Also, if you're going on one one with a forward, it means they made it past the rest of your team. Defense, like the rest of hockey, is a team effort. If you're constantly getting beat by forwards zipping past you, it would be good to recognize how this play is developing and work on countering it. It's not impossible by any means.

You're purposely mischaracterizing what I said. I did not say that at all.

Vision control was just re-tooled last year, so it's impossible for you to have experienced the current 'LT abuse' 5 years ago.

Unrealistic movement, absolutely. Speed burst - absolutely not. I challenge you to provide a single clip showing that using LT provides a speed boost.

Can you provide a single slip of an example of how defense has been nerfed?

Show us a single clip.
Can confirm that many of us have reported on it and would like it changed even with suggestions such as you can't hustle while holding vision control. Obviously not as easy as that sadly and much like Aljo said they want to get rid of it too but not break more things also causing more problems.
Yes but the NHL game isn't worked on all year. With a yearly release date it means there is a cutoff time before you move on to the next for some things.

I had trouble with this until I learned how to do it and it taught me how to contain it ,and I use it now as a protect the puck deception ,pay attention to the goalie
This guy tried it end to end most of the game until I did this ,nothing more sweeter than beating them at their own game , i only play VS or HUT

This is from VS

I think what annoys me most about the LT glitch is how it's used to bait tripping penalties. Like you'll be defending 1v1 and start to go for a poke and the guy will just LT and draw an automatic tripping call. That kinda stuff just ruins the integrity of the game.
It is true that you can adjust, of course. What I've started doing is not pokechecking and just skating with the guy and waiting for him to come out of the glitch and knock the puck away with my player's body/stick. That said, just because you CAN get around a glitch doesn't mean you should have to stop utilizing an integral tool of the game to counter a glitch. Just fix the glitch. I don't think that's a lot to ask.
I'll also add that while the LT glitch doesn't actually make you faster compared to sprinting, it does create the ability to protect the puck while sprinting. When using the actual puck protect mechanic, your player slows down a bit. The LT glitch, however, lets you protect the puck while maintaining those high speeds you get from sprinting.
I don't think EA or devs are lazy or greedy or anything like that. I think the reason this glitch, among others, hasn't been fixed is because they probably don't know how. We've had other issues like settings not saving go unfixed for 2 games now. I don't think it's because the devs don't care, I think it's because every new game in the series is just adding to a pile of spaghetti code and every time they fix one thing, something else gets broken. That happens in any kind of software development. My guess is that some issues in this series won't be fixed until a brand new game is built completely from the ground up.

The defender is holding body check without being even close to the puck carrier, which is why they can't match speed:

Defender is chasing the puck carrier rather than angling them off and getting a better position to defend the incoming wrap that should be expected:
The resulting wrap around could've absolutely been stopped, but the defender chooses to execute a poke check from the other side of the net rather than hustle to stop the wrap:
