Loyalty Discounts with Previous Games

Howdy - I've mostly been a yearly NHL buyer since around NHL 2004-05ish. And have always been an offline franchise mode player, so kind of ignorant to most the community/online world.

At NHL 21 I started buying every second year to help my budget a bit.  So the last game I have is NHL23, I recently learned EA does now offer loyalty discounts? Is it possible to apply a loyalty discount from a previous year, or does it only count from the last year game directly (ie. NHL24 this year)?
