Yes, absokutely  :) my post was big ironic :) I remember

i remember the interview with david littman at gamescom nhl 07. that game amazed everyone at the first impression, but of course everyone asked where is the opening presentation??? :) I think nhl 14 was already created without david .... nhl 14 is the most impoverished nhl from ea... what a paradox that it is the last ea hockey with a normal introduction. it's a business. I remember the interview with the director of Westwood. his words ring clear. for ea sports it's all just business, no joke. just business...

  • I personally don't mind the grudge match cinematic, I think it's pretty cool. My issue with it is how rushed it is. They don't allow it to breathe , it goes from one thing to the other in seconds . 15 seconds is not enough for an intro, 40 seconds should have been better. I don't understand why it's so quick and rushed.

I think we all know where this is really headed. I bet they create some custom “grudge match” intros and then try to sell them. Just like they did with the gear and Fortnite looking goal celebrations from last year. It’s why they took away the option to wear club jerseys in there’s eliminator, to force you to wear the clown gear. They are trying to make the game more like Fortnite and less like hockey.

TBF if you're playing a mode like "Threes Eliminator" you should probably expect it to be Fortnite-esque. Aren't those casual modes like the most arcade-y parts of the game? Also, WoC modes already have intro animations on sale. Very goofy ones. I guess people buy them.

I only play Online Versus (and very rarely EASHL) because I prefer a more realistic experience. They're definitely not going to sell any intro animations for that mode.

  • Well played the game since -92 and every year i want a authentic intro. This is ok if the authentic intro starts after this sequence with tunnelrun outs and goalie presentation HELL WHY does fifa and Madden get this every year and not NHL.Maybe just maybe we get it this year but i think this is it after what we se the same intro last year shows and then puckdrop.

  • God just do not hope we are getting the old "game sequences in the intro with this Grudge match system when they show just made up game sequences in the intro before the game starts. This is the WORST way to get authentic gameday feeling.I think we can only dream on authentic intros the way i feel this game is going.

I'm not the biggest fan that dev resources went into this feature but was this really the final straw for you?

Is this the only video drop we get this week? I thought they were doing weekly "deep dives"? Just asking, was hoping to see a presentation video, but there is just a short post about Grudge Matches, which don't get me wrong, does seem kind of cool to get throughout the year as you play teams. As someone who uses Vasy's rosters and then adjusts to make sure the prospects are on the correct teams, I put a lot of time into the game, so it would be nice to see as much effort going into building game hype prior to release, as I put into making sure the game is fun, and Vasy puts into making rosters that include those EA doesn't add into the game. ON that note, Vasy if you ever need help with your rosters, message me on here, and I can put some time into helping you.

ea finally gave a presentation of what the players want. there is no other way. ea's problem is that there are not enough people to create a good enough presentation. it is not easy to visually convert a presentation that was produced and tuned by thousands of people in the studios into a game form. espn employs thousands of people all over the world just to create interesting visualizations to draw the viewer into the game. and there are simply no people for that. hiding behind your own visions and concepts is of course nonsense. no one will make a new car or EA sports.

      Then what is this?:

EA can absolutely put together an authentic, broadcast style hockey presentation. They just choose not to.

SHEESH it was SO GOOD. Simplicity and execution. I would take this exact set of scenes with the modern animations and graphic fidelity and a few more stat-based highlighting of certain players over what we have now. The kicker? It would be an EASIER project than what they created for the Grudge Match system.

I miss a truly skilled commentary team, as well. Cibulski does his best but just sounds a little too non-professional for my ears.

Either WE'RE out of touch with what the fanbase wants or the shot-callers at EA Sports are.

Do you think "thousands of people" create the ESPN intro graphics and visual effects? I HIGHLY doubt that. It's probably a small team of graphic artists/animators that do that.

Other teams do the actual studio filming, ice-preparation for the shots, project managers for the in-between, directors, producers, etc. So if you count them as well then I could see it.
