As someone who likes to play all my games, this is very much the case. I know freak games happen irl from time to time, but something is definitely lacking in the goalie against the AI.
I had a post about a similar thing in NHL 24, about it mattered wether or not you have a good great goalie, because in my experience it doesn't.
Seem to be the same thing now. Can't remember the exact numbers now, but from my NHL 24 franchise with the Rangers, Shesterkin was in the 85's and Søgaard (who was supposed to be my backup, but for the experiment I played 41 with both) was in the 88's.
It would be cool if you could actually sign a star goalie and it was noticable difference.
I guess the stats are very hard to replicate when playing every minute, but playing good defense doesn't matter much either. It is very frustrating when you do your best to keep the other team from getting scoring chances (and to low shot amount), but when you inevitably do, they score, even if it's not a good scoring chance.
Of course, it is a game and you have to take the good with the bad. Maybe it's an unsolvable equation, to expect the numbers to be true to life when the gameplay is more extreme than real life.
I think my goalie would string up shutouts if I had a great goalie playing realistic on the 5-25 (usually 10-15) shots he get, given that those shots usually aren't dangerous (to most goalies anyway).
