Salary Cap increase by season don’t keep up to players expected salary

In franchise mode, after a few seasons, players salary expectations are too high. Some players ask close to 20m per year. That is a problem because salary cap increases only roughly 2m per season.
The salary cap increase should be adjusted as it is reported that by the end of next year salary cap could increase to 117m. I had this salary cap only in 2036!!!

Please adjust this, I know I can play without salary Cap, but this would be more realistic and playing without salary cap gives a great advantage for player when compared to CPU.

Hi there. Can you get a video of this? Please publish it through your console or put it up on YouTube and respond with a link. Thanks!

  • Sure, below you can find the link for the video.

You can see that I am in 2038 and there are a lot of player I cannot sign due to salary cap at 120m. Players are asking almost 15m in their first resign. And consider that I’ve been trading a lot of my players trying to keep a team.
I also show some players salaries in 24m and 20m region. The first one, Gentile was a drafted prospect and developed in my team that I had to trade because I could not resign him.

Look it is ok for players to ask for bigger contracts as the years pass by, the problem is that the salary cap increases just 2m by season. There should be a progression, the same as there is a progression in players salary demand.

Yes, I have the same issue when I get to later years... The salary cap does not progress compared to players salary requests.

It is not possible to keep at least a top 6 with newly drafted players, as the upcoming players already ask for a very high salary in the second contract.

Please adjust salary cap or adjust players salary requests... So it can be balanced and we can at least keep a top 6 with the players we would like to keep.

Here's what I've found out about this. What you're experiencing is actually intended.

That 92 overall player only wants 8% of the $120M salary cap as their initial contract extension ask. This is going to be higher than if they were signed in the off season. Also, performance is going to make a difference as well as interest from the organization and other factors. When looking at your roster, there are other superstars taking up cap space. What you're seeing is a likely projection of where the cap is going to go in the future. Of course, you can't pay everyone so you'll have to make some tough decisions. Like a real owner would.

I hope that explains what's going on here. Thanks for reaching out!

It doesn't explain what is going on here because he said that the player salaries weren't the issue, the issue was that the salary cap only goes up maybe 2million each year which is unrealistic and doesn't reflect the salaries that you are trying to keep. The salary cap should go up quite a bit every year to keep up with the rising salaries which it does not ( i personally have had this happen in many franchises which after that i just start over) not that they are asking for this or that much, its that you salary cap never goes up enough to be able to match any of the offers... Hope that clears it up more? cause they had no issues with the players themselves asking for the money :)

We've had some complaints that the salary cap raises too quickly and asking prices are too high. It's possible this could change in the future. For now, you can turn off salary cap inflation and that should keep things more fair.

I’m not sure what you’re seeing. That 92 player is actually asking for more than 14m in the initial contract negotiation, at the start of the season. That’s around 12% of the salary cap and not 8%.
But even so, I’m ok if there is a percentage of salary cap that players demand, I just not agree that the salary Cap rise should be fixed at 2 m per season.

I’m now playing with salary cap off, that way it doesn’t matter in the end.

    Thanks

This defeats the purpose of the salary cap. It's meant to create a constraint that makes things difficult. The problem as those above have mentioned is that it's untenable to keep your top guys or sign young blue chip guys long term because you're constantly hamstrung to retooling your roster every year. When I look around the simulated league after a few years all the teams appear to be suffering the same. Leafs sign Marner to 20m and the rest of their squad is dog **bleep**. I've been playing this game for years now and franchise mode is the only mode I enjoy. This is the first iteration I've found deep into the simulation that it becomes increasingly difficult to field a top notch team that you've been building for seasons. Every year I'm hoping the cap goes up more so I don't have to retool my team in search of bargain bin contracts by way of giving out future picks, over and over. If this is how your franchise operates franchise mode last year, why would I invest in next year?! I get it, it's baked in and you can't change it now. But let this be a lesson to you. Make future franchise modes update based on real world cap. I'm tired of playing this game in a flat cap world when kaprisov is now making 17 million.
