Simple Goalie Request

Please can you get the dev team to make the goalies stop poke checking at pucks? Every single time they poke check towards a puck they miss it completely every time and get scored on, its an animation that is really not necessary or needed and is a big reason for alot of goals being scored. Remove that one animation from them and i think personally they might actually stop more pucks, i have seen them try to poke check a puck instead of actually making the proper saves they are suppose to make! :/ frustrating to see them poke at the stupidest of times honestly. :) That is all!

I would have to agree that goalie pokes need to be more forgiving, AI goalies have programming to help them determine when and where to poke where users do not and even then they still get beat a majority or the time like this user states. This typically ends up not only missing the puck completely but also sometimes going through the puck and hitting it on the return, causing the puck to slide under the goalie pads. This is also increasingly noticeable due to the floating goalie glitch that persists after months of the game.

Over the years EA has implemented things to make scoring and offensive puck possession easier, the biggest example of this being total control/1 touch deking, but rarely or very subtly gives anything to the defense to make the game more of a chess match then who can score the most goals off the rush. There has to be more of a balance for the back 3, defenders and goalie.

Personally my biggest gripe is going to have to be reflexes, as a goalie were taught to take up as much of the net as possible but in doing so it shortens the distance a shot takes place to a goalie and the reflexes just cant keep up consistently enough to the shots that are taken. Through your own words EA_Aljo, you've said that your best chance at a save is to stay deep in the net and thats just not the way the position is played. Irl goalies can be 3ft away from a shot (typically seen on a breakaway) and still come up with leg pad saves, glove saves, ect. The irl save % for goalies on penalty shots is in the .800s yet in the game we sit more closely to .600. I believe this is an across the board issue and needs an overall increase to both make the goalie position feel rewarding as well as making scoring goals feel like an accomplishment themselves.

Hope to see some love in the future.

    Respectfully,
    1 of the goalie mains.

I'm definitely not saying they're perfect. If you get any video where they make a bad poke and it results in a goal, let me know. That always helps with getting issues investigated. Thanks!

I've personally seen them get beat more often than actually saving the puck but as you said, different experiences :) Maybe not remove it entirely but have them do it at more proper times? I find sometimes they will try to poke the puck when the player is a few feet from them and have 0 chance of even connecting on the puck, work in progress i guess :)

Hey there. Personally, I've seen more goals saved than scored from goalie pokes. I'm always surprised when it happens, but it's come in handy at saving would be goals. Regardless, it's not perfect and you've obviously had a different experience. I'll pass on your feedback. Thanks!
