They still don't have lips!

I can't believe this is still going on, and I don't understand why it hasn't been addressed.

But, like yeah, for years the people on the team celebrating at the end of the game, after the final horn goes, they always look like their upper lip, or both sometimes,  is missing 😂 I believe this is common across most all game modes.

I only saw one other post in these forums that mentioned lips,  so maybe it's not as obvious to others as it is to me? 🤷‍♂️

  • Lips?

Do the players all have authentic facial features, or do half the star players in the league still have generic faces that look underwhelming next to the NPC pedestrians I run over in GTA?

If I can watch close-up replays this year without constantly going, "Who the truck is that supposed to be?" I'll be darned happy.

Not to sass you or anything, but it's just felt to me like there's a lot of other things to worry about regarding in-game faces than their lips.

Things look a little better,  but that could be because I upgraded to a PS5 from Xbox One.

I agree that their likeness to existing players is less than glossy, considering I've played some games where the character in the game, although looks slightly different,  you can tell who the actor is playing that character just by looking at them.

There are a lot more people in this game than the average action game, but you would think once they modeled that character they could reuse it year after year.

The lips is just something that seems really obvious,  and shouldn't be too hard to fix. It's not like they have to detail birth marks or the shape of each person's nose individually. Just extend the upper lip a little so it seems like it could cover their teeth 😆

Maybe it's a data thing. The programming for realistic lips took up over 2GB, so they just tanked it and said, "shark mouths again this year".  :D

I guess I could imagine realistic faces for the entire NHL, AHL, etc., taking up way too much space on a game disc, which would explain why they add in more faces via online roster updates.

  • I have NEVER noticed this "lips" thing lol so I can't say it's much of a priority for me myself...

That said, the "new" faces still look TERRIBLE and I'm not sure why EA can't get on par with 2k's face models. I'm sure they use the same type of camera array to capture faces so the problem must be in the translation to a digital model. What's going on there? The faces in Battlefield 2042 look WAY better (another Frostbite game).
