Don't take this the wrong way, but we had a matchmaking system in place for years that addressed all of the current community concerns with the current system. Explicitly allowing clubs to set their own criteria allowed teams to get the games they want and have control over how long they were willing to wait for them.
Why was the decision made to take agency away from the players and switch to a system that doesn't produce games any faster because teams are backing out of matches that don't meet the criteria they want? What's the upside?

Why not any indication one way or another whether this change was intentional? And why no indication as to whether it will be fixed? And why not inform the community as to why such a fundamental change was made?
Was this change made based on the mountain of feedback we don't see on the forums and social media? We're always told when something is changed in-game that is wildly unpopular that it was based on the 'feedback' EA receives outside of public spaces. Yet, the most popular issues constantly brought up in public spaces never seems to jive with the apparent back-channel of feedback.
I'm just envisioning some kind of explanation like "we've got tons of feedback that more teams are willing to sacrifice team size being matched in favor of faster matchmaking" which would make zero sense.
Not sure what happened and how we went from effortlessly finding matches to it being painfully long. We all paid a great deal to get online and play. I don't see what the hangup is. I can't name one other title I own that has all the issues we encounter here

took 30 mins today to get a game and by the time it started 3 other players left leaving it a 2 on 4 .. A 6'S LOBBY!!!!!
This is an absolute joke. How can you release a game that’s unplayable online? There needs to be refunds/perks given for this abomination. Completely unacceptable wasting hours trying to find a game on woc and then turning the system off with no luck.
This is absolutely ridiculous. A lot of people purchase NHL to play WOC. All your focus is on Hut. This is such a joke. Wish I could get my money back and get 2K instead. Waste of my time and money. FIX the **bleep** thing!!!

First of If you are listening perhaps you should also showing that? Here is hundred topics concerning of matchmaking. Zero answers. Just ignoring topics and answering others topic right away, but matchmaking problems hot zero answer.
Second. What is this idiotism that you remove the only good thing. And surprise the game is now one big **bleep**show. People can't play or there are way too much time to wait "good game" with normal ping and right amount of players.
Really wish the team would focus more on proper solutions to things instead of removing features outright only to have it (obviously) backfire later on
Can't find a match via World of Chel or Online Versus. Yet HUT gets all the attention year in and year out. It makes me believe this game was not tested properly at all.

Ridiculous how HUT you can find matches in seconds but every other mode is broken.
HUT = spend more money to build a team and find matches
WOC = create a character with traits and abilities I enjoy as a gamer and hockey player NEVER find a match or have people quit after 1 or 2 goals
