Whoever picked this soundtrack has an awful taste in music.... why does ea think hockey fans would like this garbage.
To be fair, the NHL soundtracks in the 10-14 era are pretty universally loved. Heavy metal/classic rock is what people miss. 100 gecs is not what most NHL fans are looking for.
I've been screaming into the void for years, the "soundtrack" is a waste of time. Most people end up muting it anyway. So take that budget and spend it on having 32 accurate goal songs.

I tried to listen to it on spotify, made it through parts of the 1st 4 songs and gave up...its just horrendous

After 24, I’ve learned my lesson and I am immediately muting the soundtrack. I seriously can’t stand it. What happened to the classic rock like in the old games?
If u look at the comment sections of ea's different social media accounts of them posting this years soundtrack they are getting absolutely clowned by the real fans of the game. Its sad they hate their real fans
I don’t think they know who their “real fans” even are. Imagine how much popular the game would be and how much more favorably people would look at the EA NHL franchise if they simply made the changes the people who have been playing this series for years have asked for? Instead, they are catering to whatever’s trendy in gaming (battle pass, flex cam emotes, shorter intros, etc). Their comment sections across all of their social media platforms are FLOODED with people hating, and they wonder why. It’s because the people who have been playing this series for years are unhappy and feel abandoned, myself included. Almost every single change they make in regards to soundtrack/presentation are just gearing it towards kids and making it more of an arcade style game, as opposed to an authentic hockey simulator. That may work with other major video game franchises, but NHL, not so much.
"classic rock" is a stretch, no? I don't remember NHL12 having Led Zeppelin tracks or Pink Floyd lol. Maybe "Money Money" was as close to "classic rock" as we got.

There are going to be those that love it, obviously the ones that don't approve are going to let us know. It's impossible to tailor make a soundtrack for every individual player of this game.

Community ManagerThat depends on your definition of universal. I didn't care for those soundtracks either. I created a custom soundtrack during the years you mentioned. Since then, I've just streamed my own music. My personal tastes in music definitely don't line up with classic rock, metal, modern day pop, etc. I don't hold it against the people choosing the songs. The amount of toxicity and hate towards them in this thread is pretty sad. I don't agree with everyone's personal taste in music. I do respect it though.
Everyone has a different idea of what makes for good music. Music is completely a matter of your own preference. We are never, ever going to accurately represent what the entire community considers to be good.
This is one area I'll defend EA on. You could put a soundtrack together consisting of nothing but certified bangers and there would be sections of fans who hate the soundtrack. You're just never going to get a soundtrack that is universally loved. Best you can do is put together an eclectic mix that tries to give everyone something they might like.
Personally, I almost always find a couple of songs to add to my playlist from the NHL soundtrack.

I remember when....I could upload my own soundtrack...yup megadeth blasting was much nicer than anything I've heard on this years forced sound track.....another feature lost over the years

The soundtracks over the last couple of years have been very blah. Absolutely nothing that stands out as memorable, or that sets the soundtrack apart from the year before. They're all songs that sound like 3 other songs, and the songs that they sound like were already songs that sound like other songs.
Anytime I hear "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand, I think of NHL 2004. Need, I say more?
P.S. Because of the lame soundtracks, I switch over to the theme, and as epic and inspiring as I find the theme, I was rather disappointed to hear it again when hovering over the game icon in my PS5 home menu. I've literally listened to that song for more than a thousand hours over the last few years, it'd be nice to have a refresh.

I always find a couple new gems to add to my listening. Sadly songs cost more money than they did back in the day for usage so using them big names probably isn't as easy. Plus they have a budget to maintain.

Same. I have a pretty varied taste when it comes to music and usually find at least 3 or 4 songs that I truly enjoy and that's enough for me.
