Default rosters in BAP
(apologies for possibly double posting this but I made similar comments buried in a thread here a few days ago.)
Default rosters for BAP seem to be cut off before a lot of free agents were signed July 1. Someone posted that the theory is that EA cut default BAP rosters at the draft. Makes sense since I believe Zegras is on Philly in default BAP. All of that said, I would have expected the rosters to be accurate to when your player shows up to training camp. I am not a VGK fan, but as a BAP player that is drafted by VGK, I would have liked to play with Marner.
Question, is this consistent with NHL25? I started playing with NHL25 and was not following hockey this time last year? Was NHL25 default BAP roster cut off at draft as well?
A couple notes:
- The default roster from the Roster menu titled Sep 3 appears accurate to today, AFAIK. For example, Marner is on VGK. This is helpful for Franchise mode since that mode uses the roster you set here (either EAs updated or custom rosters). It is consistent that MemCup/EuropeCup modes of BAP from NHL25 did not use these rosters, just like NHL26 BAP does not use them either.
- Once you play through Juniors/XCup in BAP, you get the option to start undrafted in the NHL for which ever team you choose. Starting directly in the NHL does use the updated EA or customer rosters that you have selected/downloaded. Of course, the challenge here is that your BAP player will have a much lower rating since you miss out on 5 games and the weekly energy points. Its a tradeoff I guess.
I say all of the above because I would hope that EA resets the BAP rosters to the start of training camp or day 1 of the league. I realize that given the amount of player movement in NHL (which is crazy to me coming from other sports) this is a losing game for EA.
