Fellow old-school gamer here from The last millenium. The difference is that I’ve actually played every title since then not just jumped in recently. If you had followed the series over all those years, you’d probably see things a bit differently. The community has been pointing out the same gameplay trigger issues for a long time, and most of that feedback has largely been ignored. Because of that, the game still revolves around certain mechanics rather than truly realistic hockey. And judging by the pace of fixes over the years, those coffee breaks might not have been so occasional… and the shower might have been skipped altogether. 😉
