SBM fix
specifically for WoC and during club finals, skill based matchmaking should solely be based off your badge rank. My buddies and I are diamond 2’s and 1’s, realistically we should be playing diamond’s...
Hi there. Matchmaking is different for club finals. You'll only play other teams competing for the same cup. It's like this:
It's not rank based obviously, but this helps avoid those D 1 vs D 10 matchups. Rank isn't always the best determiner of skill though either. There are plenty of low ranked players that are highly skilled.
Why the heck are there only 2 divisions? That's absurd. The difference between div 5 and 1 is huge, let alone 10 to 1, and eventually everyone is going to make their way to 1 regardless of any real skill.
We need more divisions with better matchmaking and a relegation system that actually makes sense in a competitive setting. The fact that everyone loses their badges after a playoffs creates a broken system that essentially allows teams and players to smurf on others - how is this fair for the top 100? How is that teaching a low ranked team?
Restricting matchmaking further would result in longer wait times to match up.
The unbalanced matchmaking itself, plus other factors like bugged menus and a drop in not being found or dipping out (which by the way the game doesn't even bother with replacing them), makes matchmaking take even longer anyway -- A better system would allow for everyone to get the kind of games they want AND it would be just as fast if not faster.
Besides, we used to have 3 divisions - Longer waiting times is a pretty lame excuse. Add more divisions, especially for the launch of the game and allow searching to slowly branch out if there really is literally nobody else in the division to play. Give us more control in how we find our matches instead of blanket systems that just make things worse.
10-8, 7-5, 4-3, 3-1 with proper relegation.

Edit: Look, the point I was trying to make with reference to the show was basically how getting faster matches (which I find debatable with the plethora of bugs and other issues), doesn't equate to a better overall experience for the community at large.
I think there are tons of way we can all get our cake and eat it too. Below is an apt depiction of my team beating up on a Div 5 team who has no right being there. A win's a win, but this can't be fun for anyone, nor should it be what you (EA) want to promote.
I'd rather sit waiting for matchmaking than play a game where we know we are getting stomped and quit 1/2 way through the first period. Its gotten so bad our club usually just skips club finals b/c of getting mismatched with people who have nothing better to do.
There still would be no guarantee that you're going to go up against players of a similar skill level. There are still many highly skilled players with lower ranks. Also, the cup you compete for is based on the division your team is in. Not the ranks of the individual players.
In a perfect world, we'd be able to accurately match skill levels. Currently, I don't see how that's possible without having a bigger community. Wait times would be very long if that were implemented now.
