I wonder how many teams are out there who play exclusively with each other or if the community is mostly made up of "pickup" hockey. Obviously those two teams are going to have drastically different experiences. Unless I'm mistaken I expect it to mostly be pickup hockey, if that's the case i think that may be why there are such "issues" within the community. The game caters a little too much to these teams, instead of the pickup game. Coming from a goalie who plays with anyone that will take me, I have seen both.

Club play is different in the sense that there's a lot more "Win at all Cost" type players and teams. Drop Ins aren't anywhere near as structured and the issues aren't anywhere near as noticeable, a lot more loose style play. I think it caters a little too much to the casual/pickup crowd, personally. But that's an opinion and nothing else.
