Defending issue
I really think there is a serious gameplay issue in NHL HUT that people are exploiting over and over, and it feels like a flaw in the game’s algorithm.
Specifically, when a player is just behind the opponent’s goal line near the corner, it becomes absurdly difficult to intercept a pass. What makes this even stranger is that interception works normally across about 95% of the ice. But in this specific area, passes go through defenders far too often, even when you read the play perfectly.
You can have a top defender with full energy, an interception ability activated, face the puck carrier using L2, and still the defender reacts as if the pass doesn’t exist. The puck just slides through.
Because of this, some players repeatedly abuse the same mechanic instead of playing creatively. They simply sprint down the side boards, go just behind the goal line, and immediately send a pass to the slot. It works far too often. It doesn’t matter if you completely read the play — there’s no reliable defensive mechanic that consistently stops it.
This makes the gameplay feel unfair, especially for players who use slower defenders. If someone reaches that spot while skating at full speed, they can fire a perfectly accurate pass and it frequently results in a goal, even though the defense is positioned correctly.
Many players using this tactic cannot create any other offensive play. They just repeat the same rush along the boards and pass from behind the goal line again and again. From a gameplay design perspective, this feels like a major failure.
And seriously, that moving menu and taking two hours to complete a single set is insane.
