Hi there. Thanks for gathering the clip. Absolutely appreciate it.
For the LT/L2 issue, we all want this fixed. Obviously as soon as possible. That's the best I have on this currently.
As far as the goal line shot goes, how frequently are you seeing someone exploit this?
After watching your video, there are numerous ways to defend this. I'd definitely like to see goalies handle these better. However, you're also giving them the time and space to take that shot. This play starts with an opposing forward carrying the puck. The 2 teammates closest to the carrier are AI controlled. Switching to one of them could have stopped this play from happening. AI players do not pressure the carrier. This is intended to promote manually controlling those players instead of letting the AI defend for you. This is commonly referred to as "skill zoning" and we've taken steps over the years to combat it.
Next, the LD has time to get a shot off due to no pressure from the defenders. The shot misses and goes up the boards to be retrieved by the RD. Control is switched to one of your forwards, they chase for a hit that misses. Yes, they L2'd, but had contact been made, it's very possible the puck would be knocked loose. They now have the space to skate down to the goal line for the shot.
The use of L2 here isn't the way we normally see it exploited. They usually start this around the blue line and skate in towards the net with their back turned and then pivot to face the goalie right before shooting. There should be a loss of speed here, but that's not happening and that's on us.
In no way am I saying there are no issues here. Again, goalies should better handle those shots and the use of L2 needs to be addressed. However, this play could have also been defended.
