Mean spirited company?

(sorry it's long :D)

It appears as tho EA has turned in to a mean spirited company, perhaps it always has been. NHL seems to want to aggravate its customer base.  I'm quite sure the EA corp supports virtuous initiatives like Anti-Bullying, safe working spaces, etc.  This is commendable.  Yet, why does it not treat it's customers with the same mindset.  Instead, the perception is quite the opposite.  In my 8 years of playing HUT, i've seen a deteriation in the quality of the experience.  We are now faced with time limits in HUT Moments now.  Why?  Were people having too much success, too quick?  who cares.  EA didn't like the old days of squad battles where one could score 100 goals, so they fixed it.  The company seems to program based on what the community is doing instead of trying to make a competent game.  The customer base now is forced to grip the controller extremely hard, sweat out things it shouldn't have to.   Back to the safe space comment.  EA does not provide a safe space for its customers.  This game is aggravating.  EA has made a mockery of professional players, across all leagues.  Passes don't go where they are supposed to, questionable programming displayed all over the place more often then not.  I'm just wondering, at what point does the company care about their users experience, and where FUN comes in to the list of priorities.  I had an epiphany a couple months ago, are they making a single player game?  I believe the answer is yes.  Why?  No one knows the numbers, but if you're making single player game, just tell us and we'll move on.  It would explain a lot if that was the case.  We need an online, competitive game worthy of watching and praising the winners.  We have lost that.  I'll stop here as i'm rambling, but i'll end with this.  I do not enjoy yelling at my screen.  This happens when expectations to do meet reality.  Please try to come close to our expectaitons.

I just can't anymore, Aljo.  The game is in a terrible place, imo.  Offline modes do not meet expectations.  As mentioned in another post, the prorgamming is really bad.  As for my GWC comment, i mean the game is a sloppy mess.  Pinball if you will.  The game is at it's worst when players are tired, yet due to the fatigue system more often then not that's where the whole game is.  Egregious errors, horrible bounces, artificial game play.  What we really need is to have EA SPORTS in charge again.  The pain and agony i feel, feels like it's due to the ex-2K guys in charge now.  I never ever would have played 2K and don't intend to now.  Please bring back Ben Ross and his team.

When I mentioned practice mode, I meant, can you go into it and still experience the same issues with passing? It would just be a good way to test if your passes are going where you're aiming. It can be easier to aim passes without pressure from opposing players.

As far as the difficulty of HUT Moments goes, we're most definitely aware of that feedback. I don't think video of the AI is necessary at the moment, but you're of course welcome to provide it.

  • I do have some clips saved. I’ll see what I can do. No I don’t go in to practice mode to try and replicate the moments experience. I’ll get videos of the AI doing weird things. It’s just that the mode is programmed in such a different way than others. It acts so much different.
the persons point about his 8 and 10 year old playing is a valid one. I’m often said that playing Rookie Cup Chase should be the equivalent  of playing a 5 year old. Yet the programming has changed dramatically this year

Hello. Thanks so much for reaching out. The feedback is appreciated.

It's never our intent to be mean spirited. Changes are made to the game with the goal of improving the experience. Obviously, there's been frustration with HUT Moments and their difficulty. This input has been relayed to the team.

Passes don't go where they are supposed to, questionable programming displayed all over the place more often then not.

Can you get some video showing what's happening with passes? Are you also able to go into practice mode and experience the same issue? Are you using icon or manual passing? What is your online pass assist set to?

It would also be good to know where you're seeing questionable programming. Video examples are always best, but whatever detailed descriptions you have would also be great.

We need an online, competitive game worthy of watching and praising the winners.

What would you like to see added/changed to better support this? I have my own thoughts, but it would be good to get some more detailed feedback on your thoughts here.

Thanks again. Absolutely appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us.

From what I get from reading this message board seems like EA doesn't care. They are making boatloads of cash off the pay to play people so I guess it is what it is. I was a huge ea fan in the early 2000s. Fell out when the huts and muts started. Got back in when my kids became gamers but I can see nothings changed since the pay to play started.

I'm glad you replied with this.  I've been wondering how it's going for lesser skilled players. I'm old, with slow thumbs, but think i'm still failry competent.  This is a very good example of what this regime's programmers are doing to the community and game.  Note to EA:  "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should."

Please tone down moments.  We beg you

My kids are 10 and 8 and loved doing the moments. Its impossible for them now. The time limits the obvious slider adjustment. They play regularly on pro and do well. I watched them try the moments that say pro and its impossible for them to complete. Thanks EA for ruining the experience for kids

  • EA_Aljo these new moments only exacerbate the problem.  Moments need to be toned down by 100% or just make them the same settings as Cup Chase.  Still bad just less terrible.  These new moments are a slap in the face to us imo.  Not fun at all.

  • i think i'll start listing some examples of mean spirited.

Teemu Selanne - score 2 short handed goals.

First off, he's a 92 player.  One would think these moments are to showcase these new cards, as you hope customers will spend money to get these cards.  Cool idea, except that's not the takeaway.  He doesn't outskate anyone in this mode, as the programming allows for much lower rated cards to be able to keep up with him...lol.  2 short handed goals?  I remember his rookie season, he was a sniper not a penalty killer.  Anyways, shorthanded.  The game is at it's complete worst when players are tired.  When you're short handed you don't even gain stamina back in a timely fashion.  Why would fatigue not be turned off for these gimicky modes?  Mean spirited.  Yes, i got the moment done, this isn't about hard vs easy, it's about enjoying the time spent playing this....,"game".
