Nothing has changed.

I stopped playing competitive online games with NHL20 because 90% of all opponents and their players were way too fast. I then only played team battles, just like with NHL21 and NHL22. I stopped playing NHL23 and NHL24 altogether, and I only recently started playing NHL25 again because my son was visiting and saw that you could download NHL25 for free. It was the same with NHL25: you played 30 games online, lost 29 because your opponents were too fast, and won 1 because that player was just as fast as your own players, and you just played better. So I thought, well, I'll just pre-order NHL26, and today, after exactly 3 games, I realized that nothing had changed at all. Actually, everyone should be equally fast at the beginning, but the truth is, in those 3 games, all 3 opponents were much faster than me. You can set whatever you want, but nothing helps. So I'll just play the cup competition again in this game and won't invest a single cent more in this game.

  • I’m confused with your message. Are you saying that you and your opponent were the exact same player and theirs was faster? Maybe it’s an energy thing on the player? Was yours tired maybe? Do you mean everyone is faster than you? Use faster players if that’s the case. I’m just unsure of this comment because I’m reading it as people are faster than me. It sounds like a speed or endurance issue. We all have the same buttons on our controllers do we not?

  • Maybe a character build difference that gave them extra speed? I don’t understand how your (as an example) Federov would be slower than someone else’s aside from (and I hate using this word as people get insulted) a skill issue. I’m just trying to understand why you feel you can’t do the same thing they are, again, if it’s the same player and same energy.

    Hello,

I've been playing this game for a long time, first on PC, then on Xbox, and currently on PS5. I always use fast players, and before NHL 26, I always equipped them with speed and acceleration. In NHL 26, you don't have acceleration or speed yet. What I wrote there starts right at the beginning of the game, and my players can't have any stamina problems yet. The other opponents, even if they're still poor in terms of overall rating, accelerate much better and are much faster in terms of speed. I invested a bit of money right away, and my team is actually doing well. I'll put in a picture. My team has an overall rating of 83, and my opponent yesterday only had an overall rating of 75, and he was still way too fast. No, that started in NHL 20, and at some point you just get fed up.

I understand more clearly now and appreciate the reply. I can’t imagine anyone but perhaps Federov out skating people in your top 2 lines unless your out of energy. You’ve got one heck of a team!!!

Don’t bother with cup chase. I figured I would start on cup chase in rookie mode and work my way up kinda thing. Either in the championship game or the game 1 of the championship series I just figured I may as well hit the undefeated season and go to the next difficulty as the people who preordered are insanely better than me (pvp hurts haha) so I’m gonna mess with online play on release and the game just freezes at the end of periods during offline play. The crowd moves , timer for the period is over and it just freezes. Wasn’t a bother at first but after playing that many games, getting 2 or 5 periods away from the undefeated season and having the period end and your players just stand there is annoying. I’ve tried messing around with instant replay, pretty much any screen on the pause menu in hopes I can start the second period by having the game attempt to load something not work, having to reset and catch a loss wasted so much time. I mean, do you take a screenshot, send a video of a game where a period won’t end? Not even sure how to record the glitch. But wasting so much time only to lose because the game can’t load makes that mode unplayable as well. It’s just annoying and as I type this message I have zero intentions of paying to play online anymore. Just gonna go back to be a pro cause I’m stuck with my purchase and not renew the subscription.

  • If for example EA doesn’t give people who preordered something for these issues (we’re honestly beta testers it feels like) some form of compensation, in game, im not asking for a refund then im just going to move on to nba 2k and only use nhl26 for head to head with a friend until they create a hockey game. I had such high hope but charging us extra to beta test this game is so unacceptable that I am truly contemplating giving up on it (I’ve had every version of this game since 90-91 on sega genesis). I’m normally positive in comments, I can deal with the blue screen error and send the messages but wasting so much of my time is just unacceptable.

    Hi,

So, losing the game at the end because it freezes has only happened to me once so far.

But what annoys me most is that the controller keeps losing connection when I play NHL26. When I play NFS Unbound, I can play for three hours straight, and the controller never loses connection once. I have two controllers for my PS5: the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro Controller and the Sony DualSense Edge Wireless Controller, both powered by USB cables, and yet the connection only drops with NHL26.

I've almost completed the cup competition twice now, and the rewards are meager.

    Hi friend,

So, today I tried the controller disconnection thing again. I played NHL25 for two hours, and not a single controller disconnection occurred.

Then I played NFS Unbound for three hours, and again, not a single controller disconnection occurred.

Then I turned on NHL26, and just scrolling through the menu, I got the message "Controller disconnected"! Luckily, I still have the original controller, and it doesn't work with that either; the controller keeps disconnecting.

So, I'll only open the game daily from now on to collect the daily rewards; playing is no fun.

    Best regards, Judyracing

    @ judyracing

i truly feel like I paid to beta test for a week. If you check my post history I’ve been extremely positive towards EA, tried to help here and there, kinda wanted to be a positive influence online. I’m just really having a hard time now to justify that. It’s just painful now whenever I log into the game as I’m thinking about why I shouldn’t be doing specific modes because they’re broken or can cause a game crash rather than playing what I want. Fingers crossed we can play the game normally soon. I firmly believe that if this game went to a monthly subscription rather than a yearly release we would see a better product. Either that or some form of competition for EA hockey.
