We can still see all cards that have been released for a specific event, so it's not completely pointless even though we can't see which of those cards we own.
But yes, it should show the correct number of cards and the cards should show up as being owned like they do in the team collections. It's clearly intended to be like that, but for some reason it isn't working. I talked about this with EA_Aljo at some point, and I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was something like that the team is aware of the issue but he doesn't know if it's going to be fixed or not. That was in NHL 25, and it wasn't fixed for NHL 26.
