Why is the speed penalty being applied in cup chase?

So I spend 5 seconds in my own zone resetting so I can start a rush, but now I end up skating in mud? This is an ONLINE feature, not offline. Why has this been added to Offline cup chase? Superstar AI already has an advantage. Why the heck did anyone with a functional brain think this was needed or a good idea? Absolutely ridiculous.

And why isn’t it applied to my AI opponents? I can spend 5 min. in the opposing zone, and the same line will be taking the next draw at nearly full energy. I just finished a game where the AI 3rd and 4th forward lines and 3rd D pair logged zero time. Didn’t even step on the ice.
