Worst programming ever
The number of failures in the programming is endless. Ea sports is on the verge of ruining this game for everyone. Let's go through all the inadequacies.
- Time clock manipulation- the fact that one of the only constants on the planet is manipulated here is absurd. I understand needing to speed up the game. Changing the speed at random times with zero consistency is borderline cheating. Everything ea is doing is to force people into "paying to play".
- Line manipulation- ever noticed that anyone who has potential to achieve objectives is all of the sudden getting less ice time? Track it. It's a fact. Pay to play.
- Pack rewards- why are some packs odds shown and others not? Huge error in consistency. Why chase things that are not going to get you rewards? Pay to play.
- OVR inconsistencies- why have OVR ratings when they mean nothing? If my 95 at full energy can't outskate an 89 at less than full energy, there's a problem.
- Player ai controls- ai players will not create space from defenders. They regularly stop skating when they are part of a breakaway. AI players turn into defensive players even when their natural turn direction would take them away from the defender. AI players tend to squeeze the middle instead creating space on breakaways.
- Season/cap space issues - human players work all season long to continue to improve their hut team only to have the ability to use them taken away because of cap issues and lack of appropriate combination bonuses.
- Wild card- without a doubt, the worst gameplay available. No one wants to play with trash players. Again, we work all season long to get a better team to use only to be forced to use computer generated garbage teams. Worst idea ever.
- Ice Q- amazingly horrible. Ice q basically eliminates the usefulness of fundamental hockey knowledge. Sure, it's neat to watch Michigan goals, but let's look at reality for a minute. There have been 9 Michigan goals scored in the NHL since people started trying it. The last two scored on the same day. Dec. 23rd, 2023. That's right, over 2 years ago. The more fundamental hockey you play, the worse this gets. Eventually, you create an opponent who can only be scored on by garbage goals. 👎
- Cup chase- seasons change throughout the year, but the teams you play in cup chase- don't? Seems like someone just got lazy here.
- Hut moments- programmed for losing on all star level. So many inconsistencies here. From players not regaining energy, to OVR misrepresentation, and now clock changes? Shame on you EA.
That's my comprehensive list to date. Has anyone else noticed gameplay adjustments since season 2? When those random "content update required" messages started showing up? My opinion on this, is that ea now has amounts of time they want you to play for before you will be able to beat objectives. So if you aren't going to grind, you are forced to "pay to play".
I guess the bottom line is, I probably won't be buying this game ever again even though I'm a diehard hockey fan. Wonder what the NHL thinks about it's integrity being dragged through the mud by a video game company? 🤔
